Given the RFL disciplinary verdict tends to back my view that the incident was a fairly minor one, perhaps it's you who should review your choice of sport?

All it needed was a sin-binning for Briers.
No over-reaction to a bit of biff but doesn't ignore it.'"
That would have been the sensible decision however the RFL set themselves a precedent and decided it is a sending off offence. I haven't a problem, in fact would prefer simply a yellow card except it extreme cases but the RFL need to change their interpretation first. Under the current interpretation Child bottled it and should of sent him off. If he had this thread would probably be 5 pages instead of 20+
Nicked from P16 so i'm assuming this is correct.
Quote: Him "Strikes – punching
A-B Reaction to opponent – lashing out
A-B Punching – self defence
A-B Punching – one on one – minor
C-D Punching – sustained, repeated or violent
E Punching – sustained, repeated, violent & aggressive
C-D Running in & punching
E-F Running in & punching – opponent off guard '"
If the above is the criteria the RFL have set themselves then the closest to the incident is E-F Running in & punching – opponent off guard, it certainly isn't worth 5 matches plus imo. That just highlights one of the problems with the disciplinary.
Also the early guilty plea bugs me. He no doubt will take it so effectively has got away without punishment when others have received red cards and matches for committing similar offences. IMO they should scrap the EGP and replace it with a system where a player receives the appropriate ban plus an extra match for each previous indiscretion on his record.

ALL WIGAN SUPPORTERS MUST
1. Wigan must not win a hard fought struggle in appalling conditions, nilling the opposition and scoring 16 points, because that makes for the worst CC Final of all time.
2. Wigan must not get to the final by nilling the opposition and scoring 70 points with a display of attacking rugby because that makes for the worst CC Semi Final of all time.
3. Wigan players must not consider winning the game but devote all their efforts to entertaining neutral fans. Just like all the other teams do...
4. Wigan fans must not mention winning the CC Final, as that is arrogant.
5. Wigan fans must not mention winning the Challenge Cup 19 times, or indeed any other Trophies, as that is very arrogant indeed.
6. Wigan fans must not attend actual games. It is now compulsory to stay at home, watch on TV and moan about how low attendances at games are.: |

| Quote: SmokeyTA "So Ablett should have faked injury and taken the free substitution then?'"
I sai numerous times Ablett has saved him by not reacting agressively and makng a silly situation worse. With Childs bottling it and not dealing with it at the time (10 minutes bit of biff, calm everything down, crack on). Will it turn into football players falling over at the slightest touch. It is beginning to slip in at the ptb with the attacking players trying to milk penalties by holding arms in, falling over when they think someone has had a second go.

| All this crying about briers is pathetic. The likes of bailey and ablett have got away with far worse than what briers did. Bring back the biff, its part of the game.

If you could point me to any incident where Ablett has got up from a legitimate tackle and punch the tackler that would be great. Intact Ablett has had similar incidents before when he has been punched, and in those situation he's never retaliated back (apart from laughing at the punches that is)
Punching people because you don't like being tackled is certainly not part of the game.

On the basis that Briers got away with it because of the ref's bottle and the EGP option, it might be part of the game for a few weeks to come.

That's why i said the closest.
A-B Reaction to opponent – lashing out - Ablett was walking back into the Leeds line and didn't do anything that should cause an immediate reaction.
A-B Punching – self defence - It certainly wasn't self defence.
A-B Punching – one on one – minor - 'one on one' implies the two players were squaring up.
C-D Punching – sustained, repeated or violent - It wasn't any of those
E Punching – sustained, repeated, violent & aggressive - It wasn't any of those
So that leaves E-F Running in & punching – opponent off guard - He certainly caught his opponent 'off guard'
As i said it just highlights one of the problems with the disciplinary.

How did he catch him off guard, when Ablett was looking at him?

This can be explained by reviewing the photo evidence earlier in the thread. Ablett always walks back into the line whilst auditioning for a job at the ministry of silly walks.

he caught him off guard, when he ran at him at high speed, did a superman punch from behind.
All this despite ablett looking at him, as he stood up, as ablett was still stood next to him and had barely moved.
Some blatant lying and/or stupidity from people here, from teams who are usually the beneficiaries of such slack refereeing.

50086_1357229109.jpg [b:33tg3xj5]Me:[/b:33tg3xj5] I'm still reeling from the news that someone is considering watching the 1st and 3rd game on Saturday and NOT watching Warrington play. It's like being in Shea Stadium when the Beatles came to town and deciding to nip out for a fag.
[b:33tg3xj5]knockersbumpMKII:[/b:33tg3xj5] Is it FOOK, you're good but you're not THAT good, jesus you wanky fans need to get over yourselves, Beatles at the Shea in '65 was a once in a lifetime opportunity for some (despite the following years performance), you can watch a very good team in primrose & yellow play every week if you really wanted to but comparing it to one of the very best music groups of all time in an iconic stadia such as the shea is overegging your importance, you're not even the best team in SL atm:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_50086.jpg |
