| I didn't realise Nigel F was a Homophobe. Are all euro Sceptics Homophobes?
I suppose if you throw in a couple of polorising characters its adds to your argument. You've won me over.

| Quote Mr. Zucchini Head="Mr. Zucchini Head"Your comment didn't offend me at all, it was tongue in cheek. Admittedly that doesn't always come across when written on a forum.
We can agree that the man is an idiot, not the best role model (although the effort he has put in to get where he is cant be denied), and I admit that had he won a part of me would have been a little disappointed.
However he achieved a great deal, even in a poor era for the division it is a huge thing to be heavyweight champ. The fact that people don't like his views shouldn't see him disqualified from the competition. If you disagree then that's up to you. Personally I think what Ryan Giggs did was worse than any thing Fury has ever said or done, but no one questioned it when he won.'"
How would you feel if his remarks/views were not of a sexist or homophobic nature but were racist? Should racist comments be viewed as freedom of speech?

| ironic that the 1st and 2nd in the sports "personality" award both have the personality of a pea! but well done to Sinfield, it's a big coup for RL to have someone in 2nd place.
although i do have to say i don't think the award or indeed the night is as prestigious as it used to be, i only watched bits of it last night but the bits i saw seemed to be very PC and sycophantic, awarding awards to NI people in Belfast for example.

I don't expect to "win" anybody over who supports any of the 3 people I mentioned.

| DISCRIMINATION... DISCRIMINATION... DISCRIMINATION... Keep shouting it if it makes you feel empowered....
But.... What exactly is homophobic about what Fury said? Yes it's ridiculous, yes it's religious garbage, yes he deserves to be called out as an absolute cretin and an imbecile (though as someone alluded to, he's getting plenty of PR right now, which is fantastic for PPV sales for his next fight), yes he should be challenged on his views...: but what he said isn't homophobic.... And 50 years ago, most people wouldn't have believed abortion and gay marriage would be made legal (though again most sensible folk nowadays see that it is only right).... Nowhere has he compared gay people to paedophiles... What he said is simply his religious belief (Which is one that is supported by most traveller folk) - we get into really tricky grounds if we ban people from being able to share their religious beliefs - hell, for long enough we've allowed religious hate preachers to get away with much worse:..

| Some don't like fury but that's unfortunate cos he ain't going anywhere . Very underrated! Probably doesn't help himself with comments at time but his boxing ability and intelligence in the ring are a different kettle of fish. Proper grown on me in the last year.

Well he really does need to win the rematch. BBC Sport tried rebuilding some of the damage he'd done with his apology on the show instead of buckling to pressure to drop him because from their perspective it wouldn't be great to alienate a heavyweight boxing champion.
Whilst he holds those belts it offers him a slight protection that stops the sports media fully getting the knives out for him.....if he loses them though straight back to Klitschko then the media will fully hang him out to dry.

| By his own admission Fury has mental health issues. He talks openly about highs and lows. He mentioned after the fight its likely he will be down for a week.
Maybe he regrets saying a few of his comments. He did make a public apology on SPOTY.
For some of course that wont be good enough.
