Tbf to Tupou that wasn't through lack of trying if you watched him play, injuries just took there toll on him. Anyway if it wasn't for him we wouldn't have got Fifita to the Club, so swings and roundabouts.

This is a different Kevin Locke than the washed up ex-NRL Full-Back that played a paltry 5 games for Wakey and 16 for Salford right?
Yeah I remember him..... all the talent in the world but he pi$$ed it all away and is now playing Sunday League Rugby in NZ.
Not somebody you should be quoting in an argument unless the title is "most underwhelming players ever to play in Super League"

He was done before he come over, watched him in a reserve grade game and he was walking around the pitch like he needed a hip replacement, top player in his day though. How on earth did he pass his medical? I am guessing at the time Wakey were just desperate to get some quality in.

But yet you bring so much to so many threads.
Nah, we could never aspire to sign someone who no one wants to touch, who's now a fitness instructor or something.

tbh out of all the NRL players we've had he wouldn't be one I'd name. Like you say at one time he was a class player but not while he was over here. Could have named Shane Tronc, one of the best Props I've seen at Trinity or a better pick with the number of games he played and how good he was is Solomona, Paul Aiton as well, even guys in the side now like Bill Tupou or Arona tbh.

Cracking player was Solomona. Locke was such a waste of talent, a bit like Todd Carney. I'd have paid a fortune to watch Carney, Locke and Chase at the peak of their powers in a Salford shirt. Shame we got

I'm sure to be shot at by the fans of 'big clubs' as nobody but them are entitled to have the best. However for me Solomona was the best signing ever made by SL from the NRL. He was still quite young, had not yet peaked, was a genuine International who went on to win a WC later that year and almost single handedly transformed a bottom two club into a team that got to within one win of a GF.
If another player did as well as that in their first season in SL and with the games most un-fasionable club at the time I'd like to know who?
Cue printer and his nonsense as he's bound to be outraged by my uperty Wakefield opinion.

Though Solomona was a beast.

Not just a beast, he also had sublime passing and off loading skills and a decent short kicking game.
He played stand off against Bradford in one of our games and although pace wasn't his thing, he certainly had the rest.

Wakey did well to sign Solomona as Wire were also keen to sign him. He was great to watch as the x-factor was still there when he did play at the HJS, and that was when his fitness and pace were a thing of the past.

Complain when I post, but yet bring my name up when you post on a thread I wasn’t getting involved in you just like being a crybaby don’t you?
Solomona was a good NRL signing. As for best during the SL era I’d probably throw Lesley Vainkolo’s name into the ring.

I’d also throw in big Ali who was imo a slightly better player but both played for teams that would have been successful even without them. That’s the key performance indicator for me, too be that good in what was a mediocre team was incredible. Pretty much everything he did he created himself, yes there were a few good players at Wakefield at the time but nowhere near as many as at Leeds or Bradford.
Also he didn’t jump ship, we signed him for two seasons and he gave us two seasons worth. He didn’t need too, he could have done a deal with a big club after his first five games and then handed in his sick note but he didn’t - you have to admire that.

Ali is definitely up there, think he probably had too many injury lay offs to be classed as the best though. He does have one of key performance indicators that I apply for something like this (best ever debates) and that is longevity. Some in a debate like this will throw out the name Jamie Lyon, as good as he was he only did 2 seasons....not long enough to be considered imo.

| This thread is specifically about the former ace NRL centre Timoteo Simona, not Wakefield's past signings.
Stop derailing.
