I agree. Never was an ale drinker, but some of the old pubs on the side streets are fantastic

Princes Ave and Newland Ave are excellent if you like ale or international beers. After living in and around that area it is killing me that the nearest pub is half a mile away and only sells generic nasty lager!

| Newland Avenue has bars opening all the time, and great places to eat. Italians, British and a great Caribbean restaurant called Roots

| The funny thing is that people who come here end up staying and the majority born here do not leave.
There must be something about the place that does this to people.

| Went to uni in Hull for 4 years and loved every minute. Still got some good mates from Hull and try and get back there couple of times a year.

| Quote number 6="number 6"no surprise who this topic was started by! I moved to hull 25 years ago and the difference between then and now is totally unrecognisable, yes some areas are an eyesore but most cities have them, London even more than others!
best thing about hull is the people, we will talk to anyone, unlike southerners who seem to be stuck up, rude and obnoxious! guess I just described wirequin!'"
You can't really compare Hull to London. You can fit the population of Hull into London 32 times. It's like comparing Featherstone to Leeds.

Where have you got those 'facts' from?
Have you ever thought they may stay as its cheap.

Well I am 50 and I know of only one person born in Hull that has moved out of the city. Obviously, I am talking about my acquaintances here.
I have also met and worked with a great many people from other parts of the country in different employment. Each and everyone have said the same thing to me...they came to Hull for different reasons and ended up staying because they like it and like the people.
Even now there are quite a few out of towners at my place of work and they jumped to Hulls defence on reading negative comments about the culture award.
