| It's got to be Mcrea he recovered so quickly to resume his Sky work once he received his severence, and is still pulling the wool by choosing the Sky pound at Wigan whilst his new club were getting battered at Leeds.

| Why would McGuire get coach of the year isnt he stand off at Leeds?
For me its a close call between Robinson and Smith. Robinson has changed an average Catalan team into a team to fear and Smith has just provided great consistent rugby to watch all season.
Maguire has also been awesome for Wigan and has maintained the standards that he set last year. However I dont think he will win it this year simply because 'been there done that, time for someone elses moment in the spotlight'

| I look at what a coach has done with limited resources and TBH any good coach should have it easy at Wire and Wigan. I would go for Trent Robinson.

| you would have to say Robinson. Catalans were a basket case prior to his arrival, he has got them improving, again.

| Looks between Robinson and Maguire now IMO.
If Wigan win the grand final I don't think you can look past Maguire because doing the double is pretty much the ultimate.
If we don't win it then Robinson just pips him IMO. He's turned the Catalans around and they'll improve again next year. I think everyone in rugby league is proud of the Catalans as a club and it's great to see them do well.

If he wins it he will deserve it really, especially as he should have had the CC as well had his side not been robbed. Just wish he would show some emotion (smile or anger, not bothered) during games. Must be the training he had when a member of the green death

sorry, forgot about him - also when you think about it Tony Miller has done a great job at Donny despite not winning anything,he's stabilised the ship and brought the team on well IMO with the help of a good management set-up and an accommodating chairman - Leigh RLFC take note !
lot of admiration for Steve Mac who was sensible enough to get away from big Des for some personal stability and sanity...

Saints have played out pretty much the whole year without what was their first choice half back pair at the beginning of the year. They have gone under the radar all year with all the fuss about Warrington being the best side the world has ever seen, Wigan being dirtiest side the world has ever seen and Leeds being a bunch of has beens
As it happens, Saints are an 80 minute home game away from a Grand Final (which isn’t actually a home game as it hasn’t for the whole year)
I would say Simmons is a pretty decent shout to be honest

| If Leeds win the grand final next week there's only one realistic candidate from superleague. Didn't think i'd be writing this a couple of months back.

exactly so even more reason to give to a coach who has been more consistent through the majority of the season maybe ?

It's all about peaking at the right time, unfortunately Tony Smith couldn't manage it in the play offs or the challenge cup. He's out of the equation for me on the basis Wire lost their two biggest games of the season including a right thrashing at home to wigan in the cup. That would leave Royce Simmons and Brian Mcdermott as the only serious contenders. If it's announced after the Grand final nobody could argue if the winning coach won the title because both would have done it through adversity. Saints have blooded youngsters due to an injury crisis and Mcdermott has also struggled with injuries in key positions. They are both in their first seasons implementing new structures and putting their stamp on the team and it's a credit to both coaches that both are contesting the biggest prize in the game. Mcdermott also took Leeds to Wembley where most neutrals would say they didn't have the best of luck. If it goes to a coach outside superleague fair enough but mcdermott and simmons are the only realistic contenders within superleague for me.

| What would stop Maguire being a contender then, considering Wigan lost the fewest number of games this season and won the cup?
