| How good is Englands stocks?
Grab Reed, a player with limited first grade appearances.
Grab Widdop a player that was going nowhere in England and was built in Oz from 15 years of age.
Its starting to look like the English Cricket team, all you need is a a couple of South Africans.
English League is looking pretty fragile, maybe Heighington will be next.

| Quote: Keith Swiftcorn "According to the official stats for that game...
Ellis made 98 metres... Gibbs 127, Heighington 109 and Galloway 198 made more.
Ellis made 15 hit-ups... so did Heighington and Galloway made 21.
Ellis made 3 ineffective tackles... Heighington made 2, Gibbs 1 and Galloway ZERO.
Ellis made no line breaks... Galloway did.
Eliis missed 6 tackles... Heighington missed 2, Galloway 4, Gibbs ZERO.
Ellis made 1 tackle break... Heighington made 6, Galloway 3.
What did Ellis do again?
WTF are you on about?'"
Jeff you seemed to have a stat out - how many tackles did he complete compared to the others?

At least Reed and Widdop were born in England. Unlike the Aussie team of the last decade with Willie Mason, Petero Civoniceva, Antonio Kaufusi, Karmichael Hunt, Lote Tuqiri to name a few that arn't Australian.

Are you not allowed to emigrate?
Tell those players they are not Australians to their face,
Maybe you should tell that to the many millions living in England that were not born there.
Should players like Petero and Lote be FORCED to play for the Country that they come from?
Maybe it should be, you play for the Country you call home and plan to spend some time in.
That would count out half of the Kiwi squad.

Blimey, touched a nerve there havn't I?
You're the one who brought it up about Reed and Widdop. Not my fault that despite all the talking that Aussies do, they're still second best to the Kiwis.
And no, I don't think you should be FORCED to play for the country you were born in, I wouldn't mind Heightington playing for England, as long as he hadn't represented another Nation first. Like I said, you brought it up.

| You can pretty much add Uate to that list as it's only a matter of time before he plays for Australia.

how about that........its often said we lack size, strength & speed in the 3/4's....i think i've just ticked all the boxes
I agree that size and speed is the way to go and I think a back line of:
Tomkins
Hall/Briscoe
Tomkins
Pryce
McGilvary
Widdop
Brough
would be the best we have put out in a long time. Widdop and Pryce could rotate the strike at 6 and we genuinely have a few players that can cause some bruises.

Widdop has only been in Aus a few years, talks with a yorkshire accent and is secured at 6 with the minor-premiers elect in the NRL. Yeah, England should stay well clear

Because he's better than any other option we have in truth. We're not short of good back rowers and his defensive abilities will definitely be required against the likes of Inglis and Kenny-Dowall

| Further to my comments on Luke earlier, we were down 20-0 after 20 odd today and came back to win 34-24 against the Dragons. It was about the time that Luke came on today that we began to mount a fight. He was probably the MOTM, if not the second best player on the field. He's absolutely going enormous.

Might disagree with some of your selections (e.g. Lomax, Cudjoe, Yeaman) but the sentiment is spot on. Our best 17 is capable of beating the Aussies and Kiwis but not when coached by Mr Macnamara. Mind you having said that, even Tony Smith couldn't get the best out of them, nor Brian Waite.

All that English quality over Australian quantity, eh?
Hasn't produced a series win for over four decades.
I blame it on all those missed tackles and ineffective tackles.
