That in itself is another double edged sword...
Do we want our best players going to the NRL? From an international perspective, of course we do, we're the only one of the 'Big 3' who has failed to win a Tri/Four Nations or World Cup.
On the other hand, do we want a Super League where the cream is missing- obviously it will still be a good standard but what would SL be like missing the likes of Roby, Tomkins, Myler to mention 3 of many who may be approached by NRL clubs. |

Without the better players Superleague will become the same standard as the championship.
St Helens will become the new Leigh, Wigan will be the new Halifax and Warrington will be the new Featherstone.

Quite. For SL to continue in the way it's improved, the players are quintessential to that.

It seems to be based on the opinion of the author. He's using minority statistics to support his view. He could easily have written that article and claimed 60% of NRL players DO want expansion.

When the bigger developments start they will be cashed up big time.

Great thread BTW.....show's there's life in the boards yet and now certain posters seem to have vanished, the RL fans can get back to discussing RL as it is, not as it could be if the Wizard of Oz ran it. 
I wouldn't read too much into that article....NRL will expand, Perth is next then it's between BII and CC Bears for the next spot, then maybe NZ II and in 2058, PNG . |
