Apparently Carney made a comment about Bailey's weight, ref misheard him and thought he said a racist remark.

Lot of papers running with Carney using a Racist remark towards Bailey.

Hope it's not the case. I'm sure we'll find out when the RFL review the incident..

I reckon if it is untrue, which appears to be, he can go after those papers for defamation. I would be surprised if any RL player used racist langauge, we are a very multi cultural sport and his own team mates would kick off.

I can see the argument that prefacing the expletive with a racially aggravated element makes it more egregious, but it's still not ok for a pro RL player to be running around referring to opposition players in that way.

Cue accusations of being a snowflake, and suggestions that it's a mans game and this is just what happens etc etc.

The game was televised, sort of. Doesn't mean the mic picked up what Justin said though.

No i agree, it's not acceptable even in the heat of the moment to use extreme language, however the accusation needs to be proven without doubt for something so serious no?
I know the RL disciplinary method is to prove innocence otherwise you're guilty - you see this most weeks where evidence is based upon supposition from outcome as to what actually may or may not have happened, the supposed biting of Billy Slater's ear in Australia is a prime example.
Bloodied ear, jammer giving him the verbal's right up close and even with a dental expert stating there's no way it could have being a bite (& no bite marks) he was found guilty.

It is a tough game and expletives happen all the time, but there is a limit and it is rarely a crossed line.

Scott Moore been done for gouging at the bottom of a pile of about 15 players with Heremaia on top of him with no video evidence was the worst. The RFL even gave him the ban at the bottom of the grading scale because they said they couldn't be 100% sure if he'd done it.

Jack Smith is an incompetent referee who struggles to keep up with the game and would be reffing amateurs if it wasn't for the RFL using his story to get some media attention. With that in mind, I wouldn't be shocked at all if he's way wide of the mark in what he thinks he's heard.

But Justin Poore got banned when he played for Hull KR for swearing at his own team mate but James Child(?) thought it was aimed at him and still got banned. The RFL will take the refs word over anyone elses even with evidence supporting the player at times.

It was Mick Weyman to Roby iirc got banned but it was overturned on appeal.
