| Scoring tries from kicks is an important part of the modern game.An accurate kick to the right part of the field often makes for entertaining and skilful Rugby.I am old enough to remember when we had the three point try and unlimited tackles. Many games were spoilt by an endless succesion of play the balls with no attempt to gain ground ,just hanging on to a five point lead.

| I agree actually. Get bored of hopeful cross field kicks to the corner.

| It'd never happen but it would be good to see more ball go through hands.

| Sometimes I get bored of the cross field kick. It shows a lack of inspiration often.
But I do feel they are punished by a tougher kick from the fringe of the pitch. No need to complicate the game any more as referees already can't handle it as it is.

| One way of having fewer cross-field kicks would be to change the 40/20 rule to 40/40 and increase the number of tackles from six to eight.A typical play would then start with a fairly easy 40/40 kick ,then eight attempts to score a try. This would result in more tries being scored through handling and higher scoring games.Would this improve the game ?I'm not sure.
I often hear coaches saying things such as 'we conceded four tries but three of them were from kicks,as if they agree that there is too much kicking in Rugby League .Perhaps it might be worth a trial.

| I hate the high cross field kick.
Maybe a rule where the attacking team cant jump to collect a kick or we penalise tapping the ball back would reduce their use.
Not sure a three point try would reduce them that much unless you really needed more points.

| There are too many kick tries. There can be great skill in placing a kick so your player gets there first but lumping the ball high in the air & hoping your opponents hash it up is just a lottery. No easy answer. Maybe only allow one conversion attempt per game from tries scored off kicks? You'd take it near the sticks but maybe turn it down off the touchline & gamble on getting an easier kick later on?

Terrible idea. 8 tackles on the line would end up in far more tries and if not simply a kick on the 7th instead. It solves no problem.

| Mentioned this last year, too many tries scored directly from kicks its restricting the skill of scoring with ball in hand.
2 ways you can reduce its value, make it a 3 point try or remove the conversion attempt.
Alex Murphy got the drop goal devalued to 1 point, so in the same way "speculative" kicking should be reduced also. Might see the game open up a bit with passing plays and reduce the "basketball wingers"

| Or it might teach some teams how to defend kicks and put pressure on kickers. If it was that easy why doesn't every team do it on every set.

| They may not be pretty, but it's up to the team in defense to make sure the opposition are far away enough from the try-line to not pose a threat, no matter how 50/50 the execution prospects of a kick to the corner is.
Same with barge-over tries at dummy half. Boring as hell, but the team have earnt the try, not by the act itself per se, but by getting that far up the field through good skill (or lack of discipline by the defense) beforehand.

| Not a bad idea imo, 3 points for a try scored from a kick play.
FWIW, I dont think it would significantly reduce the crossfield kick on the last play as this ploy is usually utilised when the attacking team has run out of other options.

| How about if the try scorer kicks the conversion you get 3 points instead of 2! Imagine scoring a try on the hooter and to win the game instead of draw you have to get your prop forward to kick for goal! That rule I would Love to see!
