| No that I'm defending the club, but the OP has previously admitted she has family member on the board. It would appear she has got herself caught up in the fallout between Wilky and the said board member. This letter should be taken with a pinch of salt!!!

This has sod all to do with any kind of fall out... If you understand the club... and know the problems... then you will understand that every part of this letter speaks the truth and isn't dressed up to reflect any kind of relationship other than that of a fan and their club.

| How can you write a letter about Salford's failings without mentioning Steve Simms ? As an onlooker, the bloke appears to have been stealing a living for years from the club.

Previous posts from CavendishStreet would suggest otherwise. When I first read the post it came across as very heart felt, and I don't doubt there is sincerity in the post. I just feel someone else is pulling their strings. The content suggest inside information, which we already know she has, and the constant reference Alker would suggest the OP is somewhat misguided. You have to remember Wilkinson isn't getting younger and we are in the middle of a prolonged recession. This said he made some massive errors with choice of managers. To be fair Wilky should have stood by Harrison, and got rid of the bad eggs at the club. Especially if you look at the trouble we've had motivating players over the last few seasons.
Please lets not get into debate about Alker, there is no doubt for many years he was great servant for the club. When I get the chance, I fully intend to read his book.

| Thanks for the reply LincolnDevils , The issue I have been trying to highlight is the constant mismanagment of our club , The Alker fallout was a point I felt worthy of highlighting regardless of my personal feelings about him. The previous post re administration was posted on behalf of a friend whom didn't have a rlfans account (so to reiterate I have no family on the board)The letter was posted on the public domain alongside being posted to John Wilkinson was due to the fact that Salford have a well known reputation for burying their head in the sand wheneve criticism comes their way. Nonetheless I don't expect everybody to agree with my sentiments but I will say that it was constructed with a very honest and truthful intention. Our supporters deserve better and its about time we had our voice heard. If you head over to Twitter and my account any credible people have responded to the article positively and await a reply . please take my concerns as 100% genuine and without malice

That would be niave AND stupid because it would more than appear to be libelous to suggest such.
From an outsider the letter makes many pertinant points that probably could apply to most if not all clubs at some point or another in their tenure in SL and/or even presently.
there was no agression in the way the letter is worded and surely as a paying supporter one has the right (more so should be expected) to question what their club is doing when things aren't going right and have not done so for some years.
I hope you get answers and that Salford can once again be up there competing both on & off the field as a force to be reckoned with.

Do you remember posting this on a previous thread?

I believe you care about the club, as many others also do, and you may feel you are going about things the right way, but in what way will constantly posting negative rumours aid the club? All you're doing is putting off potential investors and sponsors. The general content of your posts suggest, whoever is feeding you this information has an axe to grind.
Like him or loathe Wilky has kept us in business for long time. Has he taken us far as he is going to, and made decisions many of us could see were catastrophic errors? Hell yes!! Shaun McRae may well have killed our club and I don't believe he ever gave a damn about us, but Wilky is a Red through and through. If some of this out and out negativity stopped, he might begin to engage the fans once more.

| Whilst I agree with quite a lot of that letter, you're always putting Alker forward as some kind of saint. The way he and his cronies acted after he was stripped of the captaincy spoke volumes. His only real care about Salford was around how much influence he had in the dressing room, nothing more.

Fair enough ,I respect your opinion and that's why it's great to be able to have forums to share our opinions. Just a question have you read his book?

| Not yet, although I intend to. However I do believe, from people who have read it, that he paints himself as being very poorly done to by the club in that instance. But he would, wouldn't he? I'm sure the account from others in the club would be different, too.
Anyway, we're drifting from the point, here, so I'll move along from this discussion. I hope you get a response to the later and it would be interesting to be able to read any reply you do get.

| If the OP is reasonably accurate, does this mean that there are no longer marketing, financial and management criteria applicable to Super League franchises?

No. I don't think it means that.
