To be honest newspapers are on borrowed time themselves, hopefully we can engage a bit more with more modern media.

RL will still be going strong long after the last newspaper has been printed

This.

Newspapers will always be around but i find less people buying them now and using the internet to look at news and also tablets to look at news.

Quote: Perry "It would appear that veteren RL correspondant Dave Hadfield has been offered terms to leave the Independent newspaper.
The Independent and Evening Standard are now in common ownership and it appears that the sports desks are being merged into one.

Can't see the London Evening Standard having a dedicated RL correspondent, and I fear that might be the end of RL coverage in the Independent, my daily of choice.

B*gger it.'"

Sorry to be nosy, but where have you heard this?

He was in the press box last week at Warrington v Saints'"

To answer your second point, he may well have a new employer.

To answer your first it was noticable that there was no weekend round up in the sports section on Monday, and no piece on Tuesday.
So I did some digging around on the internet and as soon as I typed his name in, the first search offered was "Dave Hadfield to leave the Independent" so I obviously wasn't the first person looking for this.
Found several sites suggesting that the Independent and Evening Standard sports desks were being merged and Hadfield was one of several journalists offered terms to leave.

There is a piece in todays Independent by Ian Laybourn, who I know nothing about, but hopefully this means my prediction that all coverage was to end was just me being a pessimist.

Hardly a massive loss. The Indy's RL coverage is rubbish anyway.

Save yourself a £1 a day or whatever they charge at the moment and buy the 'i' and use the spare change to get one of the RL mags on your phone.

to be honest I find the net, twitter and these forums to be a far better source of news gossip reports and discussion than any 19th century media.

Disagree. I thought Dave Hadfield wrote good pieces.

I like some RL coverage with my news and analysis.
What you've suggested sounds like loads of RL with just the headlines.

The above quote could easily be from any point in the last twenty years or so

Really? Each to their own, I suppose. I thought they were simply awful, and, in some cases, inaccurate.
