| There are a few things on this thread that perplex me...
1) The insistence that Wigan were only giving Leeds a taste of their own medicine - any specific examples that you can cite of this, or is it more of the vague and generally unsubstantiated McGuire/Bailey/Ablett is the dirtiest player about sort of nonsense?
2) The denial of many Wigan fans that a lot of what went on is simply unacceptable. Could Dudson have complained if he'd been sin binned for a late, off the ball shoulder charge to the back of a player? Or if Crosby had been sent off for his stupidity? Or your captain for getting ten for going high 10 seconds after the ref had called for calm?
3) The weird superiority complex of some on here because some Leeds fans (not all by a long stretch) have issues with the way Wigan went about the game. Two weeks ago Shaun Wane was bitching about refereeing decisions and on Saturday he went downstairs bleating that it wasn't fair - but you lot have the high ground because some Leeds fans don't have the same class as our coach and players?
At the end of the day it was a close game that either side could have won. Wigan fans will rightly applaud the resilience shown by their team - but that doesn't make complaints about the legitimacy of some of their tactics invalid, and to brush any complaint away and dismiss them all as bitterness or sour grapes is to ignore the failings your team has. With a different referee there could easily have been a couple of red cards, and that's the risk Wigan will continue to run until it happens, and based on incidents this year it will happen. Similarly, with a different outcome we could have been seeing footage of McGuire and Hall stretchered off with serious injuries, I don't care who you support, but if you think that those two incidents are acceptable, or just 'part of the game' then IMO you don't really support rugby league.

Yeah, I think all this was said by many Wigan fans right after he broke kirk dixons jaw.

I bet Anthony Laffranchi thinks differently about MM as well. You can add Ade Gardner to that list as well.
Wigan fans can moan but he's got quite a bit of previous has the lad.

Most players do, but clearly if you have to bring those up in order to strengthen your argument about the Peacock high tackle, there isn't much argument in the first place. I stand by what I said earlier: first contact was shoulder and it ended up high. Nothing he's done previously changes what happened on Saturday.

Most players don't have previous red cards for the same type of foul including a 3 match ban for such an incident this year.
Just imagine if the roles were reversed and it was Bailey with that record you'd be in meltdown.
I've already said the sin bin was the right decision and I don't' really have an issue with the peacock incident although if I were a Wigan fan I would question his captaincy if he can't control himself 5seconds after being spoken to by the ref.

I haven't mentioned Bailey. And for someone who doesn't really have an issue with the Peacock incident you're doing a very good impression of someone who does.

I don't have an issue, but MM clearly has, both with keeping his aggression in check and his tackling technique.

| I thought Wigan went about their business really well. Leeds must - or maybe -should - have known what was coming; how else were Wigan going to win with so many out? I enjoyed watching the game played in that spirit tbh. Must admit I'd have enjoyed it more if Leeds had matched what was thrown at them in that first half though

He may have regathered like gelling did in the first half or he may have not needed to regather in the first place if it had not been dislodged, in the end it was a 50/50 and the vr has to make a decision.
Great game for mine, if we had intensity like that in every game we would be much closer to the Aussies than we currently are.

An even starker difference still is the way the same referee - Siverwood - dealt with the Matty Bowen clothes-lining of Grix in round 1 and the way he dealt with the Crookes incident at Magic.

Can't argue with that one. Bowen got lucky. I thought he was going to walk for that one. Doesn't mean the Crookes one was the wrong call though.

No implication in my post that it was. Same referee but totally different reaction was the point. Hard to understand why.

What he said (although I agree no need for Dudson and Micky Mac incidents)...
