I am hoping EVERY pitch invader is prosecuted. Furthermore, social services MUST investigate the family / circumstances of the kid who had to follow on the bloke (who it seemed was supposed to be looking after him on the day).

The guy who kicked the mascot's head is the same guy that punched the mascot in the head and caused him to fall to the ground.

Pretty sure there is a video of another idiot knocking off a / the mascot's head before the one pictured kicked that one. Must have been two incidents?

The punch floored the mascot but it was some fat kn0bhead that ripped the head off when the mascot was on the floor. The guy who punched him then got it and kicked it.

We should be looking at the bigger picture, too. This is very bad publicity for a game which is not in the rudest of health. Scenes like this have become rare in Football and don't seem to happen in Rugby Union, or other sports that draw crowds. TV viewers have been treated to a view of Northern Rugby League fans as utter morons. That's not going to attract a lot of sponsors, is it?

I disagree with the "RL fans as morons" point. . TV fans, if you actually think about it, have seen a bunch of Widnes drunken morons behaving appallingly and very antagonistically, but have seen the massed ranks of Cas fans showing commendable restraint and not getting involved. I know that's not what grabs the headlines but that's what the images show. Imagine if the Cas fans had reacted and there had been a mass brawl.

Fair point, but I think you also identified the "headline" aspect yourself! I've a horrible feeling that sport neutrals may not have noticed the exemplary Cas fans behaviour.

To be fair, the only person I've seen throwing proper punches was a Cas person. The Widnes people were just yobs and aside from shoving a steward and knocking the head of the mascot's costume head off there didn't seem much or any actual violence. That said I hope all the Widnes pitch invaders are prosecuted and banned at least from home matches for life. But the Castleford person should also be prosecuted.

The widnes fan was fair game. If he's not on the pitch at the cas end he doesn't get punched he got what was coming to him.

Luke Dorn didn't go down. As for the mascot, he slipped. Granted, he hasn't got a bad bone in his body and wouldn't harm a fly. He should've been celebrating with fans not fearing a beating you stupid cretin.

No. That's lynch mob mentality. The law should deal with the Widnes people. He has no high moral ground because he also encroached AND actually assaulted someone. Is the Cas club and its decent supporters making efforts to ID him and report him? If not, why not?

No idea who cares. Fact is widnes' fans have shown themselves up and deserve to not be in the challenge cup next season as happened with queens if RFL decide to go that way.

I've described what happened at loutishness rather than hooliganism but it doesn't change the fact that it would have been very scary for the cas fans at the front of the stand. Given the fact that they tend to be people in wheelchairs or kids too. If I were a parent and my kids were being out through that I'm not sure how I'd react.

To say only one cas fan entered the pitch is something the cas fans should be proud of. They showed real restraint there.
