Agreed. But I’d be shocked if Hall and Moon combined would be on circa 400k.
And some of Hall’s wage would e exempt from the cap.
I just can’t see how they could have been over in 2018, but reduced their wage bill in 2019 with the signings they made.

| How did they manage to go over the cap with one of the worst squads in SL history? That’s hilarious!

I meant they where both blamed on administrative errors

| Should be a points deduction. It’s the only real punishment for either accidental or purposeful breaches

Ablett and JJB got reduced contracts. Not sure what Delaney was on. Garbutt was probably on a chunk too. Crosby and Donaldson won't be on that much. Midseason signings will hopefully be offset by the loses and loaned out players. They'll probably have a low first year contract bolstered next season as well.
Unless we've decided to take advantage of the new rules again...
Not sure the trolls are going to get the feast they thought they would. Sure vast majority will be disappointed In the club especially with how we finished up. Would of taken the 2 points deduction on the chin.

| Quote: nottinghamtiger "If they were over in 2018, surely they are over in 2019?
We know that they signed Merrin and Hurrell as marquee players, so they will have counted as 150k each on the cap. Plus Lolohea who wouldn’t have been cheap.
Did they really lose 300k+ worth of players between 2018 and 2019?'"
To be fair we lost a lot of players 2018-19. Part of our problem has been turnover.
Out from 2018 squad:
Ryan Hall
Joel Moon
Brett Delaney
Anthony Mullally
Mitch Garbutt
Jimmy Keinhorst
Keith Galloway
Jack Ormondroyd
Jordan Lilley
Josh Walters
In 2019:
Tui Lolohea
Konrad Hurrell
Trent Merrin
Wellington Albert
Rhys Martin - mid season
Kallum Watkins - out mid season
I think it’d be fair to say the Parcell/Lunt and Lolohea/Lui swaps probably neutral in terms of the cap.
We did loan Albert for the last part of the season - not sure how that affects the cap.
Ablett didn’t play all season and we studiously avoided playing Golding all year which would lead me to believe that that was a cap related decision.
Assuming JJB and Ablett on reduced contracts and the loss of some big wages in Hall, Moon & Watkins mid season along with some decent wages in Garbutt & Mullally could probably account for the incoming players.
It’s pretty certain we’re tight on the cap both from the manoeuvrings to free up cap space and from what’s been admitted by Sinfield.
Looks like some decisions on contracts a few years ago have come back to bite us now with some average squad players on too high wages.

| Dangerous precedent set by the RFL when they backed down on Wigan’s punishment last year. Now there is no real deterrent. A small fine to try and sneak into the 8’s or the play offs is worth it.

Never mind sneaking into the 8's or play offs.
Just like Wigan during the Fielden / Radlinski era, the overspend possibly saved them from relegation and if the punishment is a £10k fine, EVERY club that is in a position to cheat will do so without a second thought.
I dont accept the "administrative error" excuse either, their error was getting caught, not that a £10k fine is any deterrent.
Elstone's public sympathy for Wigan last season tells you everything you need to know. He had all but reversed the points deduction before their appeal was heard.

Ah, the old deflection tactics.
I'd love Trinity to be even close to a position where they could blow the cap but, it seems that the current "trend" is reserved to the games "big" clubs.

Big and medium, it's fair to assume. Otherwise the current rules wouldn't have been passed.

So you think Wigan going out and signing the then considered best forward in the world is the equivalent of Leeds giving a full time deal to Luke Briscoe. And that saved Leeds from relegation. Wow bitter or what.

Yes they did, fielded and others allegedly played for nothing and where given big salaries the following year, hence Wigan where fined for breaking the spirit of the cap.
Massive difference between Wigan doing this and Koukash deliberately breaking the cap by 100k at Salford and bragging about it.
Fact us Leeds have made a mistake just like Wigan did and have received the agreed punishment set by all the clubs. Job done move in. It maybe does open a wider debate on the merits of the cap, I am for one am in favour of a huge cap increase maybe 2.8milluin finite cap (no marquee) but with a zero tolerance policy on over spends
