Quote: JEAN CAPDOUZE "In my opinion Wakefield, Salford and Leigh do not belong in Super League. That is a legitimate point of view, even if you disagree with that. Obviously the fans of those three clubs will disagree with me and maybe even get angry with me for writing that. But that is their problem. I am not going to hide my expansionist opinions just to make the fans of Wakefield, Salford, and Leigh feel comfortable. What is the point of having a forum if you cannot express an opinion that is unpopular with some other people?'"
So all the hard work done by everyone behind the scenes to keep Salford going and who probably take home a meagre wage to pay their mortgage, the fantastic work by the head coach to have them challenging for the top5 and who’s got a job with Great Britain off the back of his work with Salford, and the players working hard (other than last week when they were totally bobbins) to try and get into the top5 who earn their living and pay their mortgages through the club... none of them deserve that do they not? All out of a job, all have to sell their houses, at the say so of some WUM who pines for pet expansion teams who couldn’t even stop little London getting promoted last season?
Teams are in Super League on merit. Simple as that. Nobody deserves or doesn’t deserve to be in SL for any other reason than winning or losing games of rugby. There’s no legitimacy in saying teams who won enough games to stay up over the years or ticked off enough boxes to keep their license for the years that was in place, don’t deserve to be in SL.
Just because Toronto might bring some more exposure to the sport or will have more home fans than Salford, doesn’t mean they deserve to be in SL and Salford don’t.
We’ve seen expansion fail miserably in the past. Stop pining for it to flush this league of the smaller clubs who have people working hard every day to keep their clubs going and earn themselves a living to have a roof over their heads, just so you can come on here like the prize WUM you are to lord it over fans who’ve been following these clubs for decades, week-in-week-out (even if it’s not many of them in some cases).
This will all happen naturally. Toronto may well get promoted this year and may just about stay up next year, but then and then only can anyone say they deserve to be in SL over any club they’ve replaced - which may not be Salford or Wakefield.
It’s alright for all the berks like you on this site sitting in the back room in your Mam’s gaff (where you probably don’t even pay for the internet connection, never mind contribute to the rent) in your vest and boxers eating packets of crisps and picking your nose while WUMming people in this site all day... you don’t actually think there are people who are working for these clubs, who aren’t playing or coaching staff, who’s work for these clubs keeps these clubs in business and pays for their homes.
“Don’t belong”...?! Wind your neck in!
