| Had everyone in work (Liverpool) asking me about it today. Still finding it difficult to talk about, immensely proud but devastated.

| I just wanna say that before the game I said neither Sinfield or Tomkins had been 'outstanding' thus far in the tournament, but my god were they on Saturday. Gareth Widdop had one of the best games I can ever remember an England number 6 having and Sam Burgess was inspirational.
I have never been so anxious, exited and nervous as I was during the last 20 minutes of that game and it certainly was heart breaking stuff. Hearing 65,000 plus inside Wemberly chanting "ENGLAND, ENGLAND" was spine tingling and I was devasted for the fans, the players and the sport in general at the final score.
The amount of non-RL watchers/followers that have commented in work about the game has been unbelieveable. It seems as though international RL has finally arrived to the British public, the hard work starts here now in building upon this successful tournament.

| I still can't get over it. Will probably have to retrieve the programme that I immediately deleted and watch it again at some point. Absolutely gutted just sums it up for me.
From watching that game, I think Sam Burgess put in the best display I have ever seen from a forward in RL, with a few others not too far behind him (ie Graham/SBW etc). His interview straight after just shows why we like the honesty and integrity of our game.
Can only think the Aussies will win the final with the emotional drain the game will have on the Kiwis. Hope not though.

Precisely why we need a presence in London. Its where the money is if we want to attract sponsors etc. I was in London in the early 90s when international RL was on everyones lips. We had a great British side then made up of international stars. With the Burgess boys, Tomkins, etc we have a chance to shine now. We just need to grab the bull by the horns and seize the day.
Sadly i fear no legacy and we will trundle along again for another 8 years until we have a WC here again.

| We stopped off at a few pubs on the way back to Kings Cross, and in almost every one we had somebody local chatting to us about the game. Most had watched on tv or in the pub, but all were extremely complimentary about the sport and the players. One lad told me he'd been to Cardiff the night before to watch Wales and Tonga union game, but said he wishes he'd spent his money at Wembley instead.
It confirmed for me once and for all that there is a market down there if only somebody can work out how to tap into it.

| Think yourselves lucky we didn't fire the way we should have or you would have copped a major flogging. That's not bragging or being arrogant it's a fact. At 14 - 8 up we should have run away with it. Both sides were ordinary at times if im honest .. it's just we were slightly less ordinary when it counted. We need to raise our game big time next weekend or the Aussies will steamroller us.

I'm not being arrogant. It's a fact. We SHOULD have run away with that game. however we didn't. We were ordinary at times as were England.. it's just we were less ordinary when it mattered.

| It certainly isnt a fact, at all. You could say the same for England once we were ahead, we had numerous chances to seal the win and probably should have won the game with a comfortable 14 point win. Unfortunatly Hall couldnt finish a couple of chances and Westwood came agonisingly close.

You probably should have won if it wasnt for the fact that england were the better team.

There must have been several thousand Aussie and kiwi Londoners there, there where quite a few near us and quite a few southern amateur club players and fans.
We really need to scap the broncos and get a new club run by super league and latch on to the succsess.

Sam Burgess proved in his post game interview that he should be the next England captain. To speak like that with such maturity and grace at a time like that spoke volumes. I couldn't have done it and wouldn't have done it. Me and the group I was with didn't speak a word for about 20 minutes, We just slumped back in our seats in stunned silence.
That lad is all class and a real hero of English rugby league. His life experiences have rounded him in to a terrific person as well as one of the best rugby league players I've seen (and I've seen a few).
