i never played the old ones but must say i'm impressed at the detail for a free game shame the south wales scorpions logo is wrong (they used the prototype one) but still good fun and i love the little touches like the sound of the crowd shouting bullsh*t when their player gets yellow carded.

very enjoyable the only thing i would change is a some sort of calendar to skip forward more than 1 day at a time as after the last game this is a major ball ache.

How the hell do you buy players. All the best players arent interested in signing for me but someone has just said they signed hayne

Just try and sign the players that are on the transfer list, then check for players with contracts running out for the next season. Probably best to try and sign "national" players though, think there was a ruling on how many international players you could sign last year.

I haven't downloaded this version yet but with the 2009 version you had to open the game as an administrator to be able to save a game. Right click on the icon for the game on your desktop and select the option to always 'open/run as administrator'. If the conditions are the same as for 2009 then that should solve your problem.

i seriously struggled to sign players higher up the ladder best bet is to go it recruitment bids and then look for the two green ticks on the right that say loan/transfer. sign in your teams level players and loan in better ones. i signed in some fringe SL props and a SH for my cc1 team for the season and smashed the league. also i made the mistake of thinking overseas player quota= all non eu FAIL! its only aus and nz players. png/sam etc don't count towards it. i got fined so let go a load of these guys and still got fined very expensive

It's just a cock tease about how good a proper commercial RL manager game could be.

I just hope the developers of the FM series pick rugby up as a franchise. Groundbreakingly it could be a coalition between the RFU and RFL. You choose your code, can poach from t'other etc, change sports etc.

They could market it nationally, it would sell bucketloads.

To be fair, considering its free, its a great little game. Even if it had EA's trillions behind it, I cant really see where it could be improved dramatically except for some bugs and glitches.

Its certainly kept me busy.

Had a play about with this recently for the first time and not too shabby at all for a freebie.Can't get the hang of tactics or anything like that though which will explain why its been slim pickings when it comes to winning matches but as an ex football manager addict it ain't bad at all.

Great little project for some student or whatever but if it had a real development team behind it then maybe, just maybe, the games might play out like real games for starters?

Patch is out, so it doesn't crash when you retrain players now. There are some other fixes too.

By the way, as Wigan I now have Hayne at fullback, Thurston at SH.

The secret? Go on to the ground section and upgrade the centre of excellence. Costs a bomb, but each time you can sign another WC player (or alliance player). As such you can have an awesome team from the get-go, but beware of your finances.

major problem i just ticked is the fine for alliance registrations. supposedly 10k per player under 21. well i thought that meant 20 players = 1 under so a 10k fine. WRONG. apparently it means 20x10k =200k fine and end of any chances of meeting board expectations
