SL v SL matches, whilst no guarantee of how you’ll go in the season can offer a BIT of insight if they go really good or really bad for a team. If you lose to a close rival by 30-40 points it might suggest you’ve got a few issues heading into the season. |

Ultimately, they are all, by definition, meaningless.
I'm sure that every pre season game give the respective coaches some pointers about things they may need to change or improve but, they are meaningless.
You are right to say that no side (assuming they are equal in strength, wants to get done by 30/40 points but, even these games count for nothing when the season starts. |
