| Quote: Charlie Sheen "Well apart from being a MOS and Golden Boot winner, having record number of GB caps and being one of the best playesr in pretty much every team he played in. Where as once Edwards was out of his comfort zone at Wigan he was found wanting.'" [size(ahem - joint record caps with Mick Sullivan)[/size
I think, upon reflection, I'd rather have Edwards' record. By a long way. You think Schofield wouldn't swap his scant honours for the chance to lift even a portion of 9 Challenge Cups, 8 League Championships, 7 Regal Trophies, 5 Premierships, 5 Lancashire Cups...not forgetting 3 World Club Championships and the Man of Steel in his own right. [size(and the Sydney and Middlesex 7s)[/size
For all the accolades and praise lauded on Schofield (I agree Schoey was a better individual player, while for me Edwards was a better team player), Edwards' record is simply unmatched.
And let's be honest, when Edwards was out of his comfort zone he was in the twilight of his career.

| Was he in the twilight of his career at Balmain? That's a long twilight.

Meh. A mere blip in an otherwise unrivalled career. And he did his hamstring.

| During those pub debates, when you sit around with friends and select your imaginary " Best Great Britain Team Of Your Lifetime " ............... I have Schofield in the Centre, and Edwards on the bench ............... so I suppose I'll have to vote for Schofield.

| I think Schofield was the more talented player. I loved his cheeky chip and collect (don't know how to describe it) that led to the Paul Eastwood try against Australia at Wembley in 1990.
Edwards was a great player too mind.

Takes me back to Melbourne in 1992 with probably the best GB halfback performance I have seen in Aus.
Schofield was captain, MOM and produced his complete skillset( including chip kicks for tries) which helped to run the Aussies ragged in a win which was the 2nd largest ever by GB in an Ashes test.Shaun Edwards was his partner that day and contributed superbly. Mal Reilly was the GB coach in that series.
My vote would go to Schofield.

| You would want both of them in your team, but wouldn’t tell Schofield about the 20 year reunion

| If you ignore ludicrously biased Wigan fans then Schoey is the clear winner and you can add my vote - as for there respective personalities what has that to do with anything. I’ve met Gary a few times and hand on heart he’s not a nice guy especially after a few drinks but so what.
Edwards I’ve met once and he appeared to have no personality at all but again so what.
Edwards was a fantastic talent in a fantastic team one that allowed him to be his very best.
Schofield never really had that luxury yet on every level was imo the better player one who could create individual magic even in a team of also rand, that to me is true talent.

| In internationals Schofield was miles better.
Domestically Schofield was less good. Ok he was in a poorer side but he was part of the problem in that Leeds were riven with cliques and infighting amongst the playing squad while he was there.

Edwards by a distance.'"
The poll has it quite close
For me the sad thing about Schofield is despite his unquestionable playing ability, as a pundit he will say anything controversial to get himself in the limelight, a bit of a Katie Hopkins character. This is why the bbc and sky won’t go near him.

| Although different styles of player there isn't a lot of difference between the two and the poll reflects that, I would go for Schofield because he looked the better international player. You also have loyalty to our sport, Edwards desertion to Rugby Union against Schofield who stayed within our sport for better or worse.

| I hated him when he played against us, but Edwards for me.
Considering they spent most of their careers playing stand-off, I'm sure if the pies thought Schofield was better than him they would have signed him at the time. They were signing every other top player back then.
