| Quote: Starbug "As I said earlier , His history isn't that confidence inspiring , Carlisle and kent Invicta , I wonder what their business plans read like ?'"
At Kent Invicta, it was Paul Faires, a completely different individual, who founded the club (about whom there is plenty on the internet).
Ferres' only link with Invicta and Carlisle is that he played for both clubs. Don't let facts stop you from besmirching someone's reputation though.

| Quote: Richie "In the short term, converted local RU players, players with RL history already here, probably some scheme with the local unis, and bringing RL players in.
In the longer term, the likes of Northampton's 11 players (5 SL) currently in pro academies staying at the club rather than moving.
But you would have to see the business plan for the full detail.'"
So in other words the standard will be very poor. Another nail in the coffin of the current unfortunate CC1 clubs who do not succeed with their escape from oblivion next season.

You mean your fans don't want to see you win games?
If good teams/players were in, we'd hear "our fans don't want to see us get beaten. Another nail in the coffin of the current unfortunate CC1 clubs who do not succeed with their escape from oblivion next season."

No it isn't, they can always get promoted the following season.
And if they aren't within the top four clubs of the CC1, then they don't deserve to be in the Championship. Nothing 'unfortunate' about it.

I want to see my team compete at the highest level they can and if they lose a few then so be it. This would be far more desirable than winning 80-0 every week apart from when we are playing a northern club.
As usual this thread appears to be being taken over by the ‘expansion at all costs regardless of the detrimental affect on existing clubs mafia’.

| Quote: headhunter "Gateshead were bankrupt 4 times between 2000 and 2003 because they had virtually no assets following the merger, I hardly see what relevance that has to this thread.'"
And they went bankrupt more recently as well.
The relevance is that you claimed that Gateshead was a model that the new clubs could follow. Attendances matter. Gateshead have always been up against it because they've only had a very small support base but had to trvale more than most. Hence the instability.

But rather than see them go through the leagues to compete at a higher level, you want to see it happen by them staying where they are and the teams in the league being altered to suit your team. Right....makes perfect sense

Yes, but how many games did they fail to turn up for?

| All that promotion from this league would mean is that you would be back amongst competitive rugby rather than a back door way of having being in reality relegated to amateur rugby.

Only going off the various press releases which linked him to those clubs , and suggested he had experience of starting expansion clubs , so apologies to Mr Ferres for that one , maybe I'll have to check everything the press publish in the future

| Quote: dids858 "Medway Dragons, Hemel, Bristol, Coventry, Northampton, Chester and Oxford.
Its a shame that Bramley had a troubled season as I would like to see them back.
As for the list above. I would ditch Chester (what league do they play in) & Medway not a high enough standard. Oxford not high enough standard.
Hemel is a yes they have playing all over for years. Cov is good if they can keep it up. Notts should be in rather than Northampton.
As for Bristol would like them to step up to RLC and see how they do for a couple of years.'"
Chester are the old Warrington Wizards RLCN side but under a different name / location.
Northampton may be backed by Northampton Town that would be why they "jump the queue" but I agree that Notts ought to be in there.
Bristol are in the RLC just not the national division and haven't applied to join. The Bristol / South West bid is nothing to do with them.

| I await somebody , anybody that can explain why a 14/10 split is better than a 12/12 one ?

RFL: "Right. We'll bring in four expansion clubs into CC1"
"No! You're trying to destroy us!"
I'm fine with four new clubs, I just wonder at the wisdom of four new clubs at once.
Wouldn't 2 new clubs in 2012 followed (if all is well) by 2 new clubs in 2013 be more sensible?
That way if things don't work out the RFL only have to deal with issues at 2 clubs not 4 and the clubs joining in 2013 get the benefit of going 2nd (and thus knowing where the problems might lie).

| I am happy to gain promotion to the CC through the relevant channels on the pitch, but what is happening here is that the league we will find ourselves in if we do not get promotion next year will actually be the equivalent of being relegated by default. We may not move, but what is around us will have.

I have suggested a club every 2/3 years as being a better option , meaning more resources could be concentrated on all clubs , I get the feeling that the ' butter ' will be spread too thinly
