Most of these announcers usually come from the 'local radio DJ' mould - a species of human that can only ever speak in hyperbole.

The PA announcer is very bloody annoying. Problem is that, these days, it's those types that get the job. Wacky funsters that all the family can enjoy. Apparently.

For any one who has seen Phoenix nights the PA announcer reminds me of Ray Von

Apparently he lives in Warrington area and is a professional announcer. He has never done Wire games but is the regular at LeedsRL and QPR. As a professional announcer he does other large events as well. I think we are lucky to have him doing our big games, he's very clear and,so I'm told by my wife, grammatically very correct. (Hope see doesn't see my post)

Pete Nuttall did used to do Warrington games when we were at Wilderspool, I think it was for a couple of years. Met him when I helped out at CC Finals, Grand Finals and Internationals and he's a good bloke.

It is a difficult job to get on the mic in front of so many people.

I will admit the "And Now" does get on my nerves though.

I seem to remember him being part of the Peter Deakin era at wilderspool too.

Seems that not just me but a number of people have noticed this.

Anybody who has heard the replacement at Headingley will tell you this guy is quality!
