Remember the Onion WC in France? Wales played all their games at the Millennium (or at least most). And a quarter final between France (the supposed hosts) and New Zealand was in Wales.
In short, it hardly stopped the Nazi's code of choice, so why should it stop ours?

crowds in ireland for rugby league would be two to three thousand at best and would cost more to put on - rugby union would get ten to twenty times more than that and at their own stadiums
stick to the best chance we have for this world cup to suceed, keep it in established rugby league stadia - even Wales is pushing it for me

| one game in ireland sounds fine to me
more places bidding means more money for RL so well done RFL.
the international game is going to take time but if we stick with it will pay off for us
eventually a championship team would be nice i guess to see if there is genuine long term interest in the game

| The tournament could have made loads more profit had the France games been in France and ALL the Wales games in Wales along with Ireland games in Ireland.
A France game over here against a smaller nation will pull a small crowd but at Catalans stadium it would be full.

They aren't French though they are Catalonian. You never can tell. When they were knocked out of Euro 2008 there were parties in Canet.

Some twisted logic there! How do you leap to that conclusion from my observations! I've never voted tory in my life, and never will. I said they were debt-ridden (Government bonds rated as junk by moodys with bail outs from Europe and the UK affirm this), Anglo-phobic (based on personal experience in Dublin and Galway) and backward (I concede this may be harsh, but outside of Dublin its easy to believe, especially in the fiercely RC areas where attitudes are medieval).

'"
1) Its not our stadium - we only rent it.
2) Your country may own the stadium following the rescue of BoI by the Irish Govt - but don't forget your COUNTRY is now owned by Europe and owes my country a great deal of money(which I doubt we'll ever see back). In short, your country will take a long time to repay its debts, and many of your country's assets will have to be sold off to do that, and I dread to think what the ordinary working folk in your country will have to suffer to pay for the vanity of Irish politicians who used European money to fund the myth of the Celtic Tiger economy (good name for a RL club).
That Celtic Tiger is now a rug in front of a German fireplace!
