if widnes get in under the current rules that satisfies them
if the french clubs pay their own way and dont cost a championship spot a place, why not?

Quote Slugger McBatt="Slugger McBatt"If there is any truth to that, it's not much different to top sides loaning out the "almost" players to get competitive experience. The lesser players are more likely to be French, and Catalan have a duty to promote French rugby league and bring on domestic players.'"
here you go mate.
Quote Slugger McBattSpeaking of recruiting, you will qualify for so-called "dual". Can you tell us more?
Yes, it's all new. Now, the Super League clubs can pay some of their players to Championship clubs, provided that they have less than 23 years and they do not appear in the top twenty of their squad. Regarded as "duals", players receive a dual license that allows them to move either with their club in Super League or Championship. Thus, these young people will have time to play in bringing us thereby experience the highest level.'"

| Salford will be out.
Halifax, Widnes, Barrow and possibly even Featherstone could have a case to get in. The first two are the most likely.
Harlequins should be chucked out, but we all know they won't be.

Im assuming Quins should be thrown out due to the size of the crowds. What crowds do you think Fev, Barrow and Fax will bring to the comp?

Never ASSume anything, because thats what you have done. I'm sure there was a plan for them to enter it this year, but the RFL couldn't work it out as it wasn't as simple a problem as frigging the franchise process.

Yes, it's that Widnes team that your were on about earlier have won so it's a good job winning it makes you eligible, don't you think?

| the RFL gave france another chance, same with wales
i dont think theyll easily give up on manchester
in their current guise salford dont deserve a SL license.
but the fact they are tendering construction gives me hope it will start construction.
they have a year i think to sort it out. certainly if work hasnt started by the time the next round of franchises is decided they are gone.

| Quote Legionited="Legionited"=#0080FFWell they can do their bit for RL expansion and allow another European team in to make it 4. I nominate Wakefield.
'"
Ah, so a 4 team league then. Hardly big enough for a full time league is it.

| Quote Legionited="Legionited"=#0080FFI personally think 1 French team in Super League is more than enough, 2 ridiculous and 3 laughable.
If there are to be 3 French teams able to compete in our league then why wouldn't they want to have their own "Super League" to rival our own?
If expansion is the way forward then SL should be looking to Scotland before adopting another 2 French teams.'"
So having French teams in Super League Europe is either "more than enough", "ridiculous" or "laughable". Do you have different maps in Glasshoughton to the rest of us?

Partly, and due to the quality of RL being played this year. I think it would do Quins some good to develop a successful Championship side and then work their war back up, look at Cas and Hull KR now.
All three of the above's crowds would be better, and if it was Widnes in for them, the crowds would be a huge improvement.

=#0080FFIn my opinion, yes. I believe I'm entitled to that?
The Super League is a primarily English competition as evident by the number of English teams in it. The RFL have shown willingness to expand the competition by allowing the likes of Catalans and Crusaders to compete in it and fair enough it hasn't been a complete disaster.
The problem with increasing the number of teams from mainland Europe is that most fans cannot afford to be travelling all over Europe multiple times during the course of a season. Also, you don't see many Catalans fans coming to games over here, so why would it be any different with a further 2 French teams? Attendances will be affected for all teams which is a real negative.
I'm looking at this as a Rugby League fan and nothing more. Just like everyone else wants to do, I want to follow my team in the top flight wherever I can and opening the competition up to more teams in France restricts that. I can't understand why any fan of rugby league in the UK would be happy enough to see more French teams joining the league at the expense of existing clubs or otherwise.
