| My understanding is that Bobby was very threatening as he got drunker all night. He then barged into a lift after midnight and tried to hit the aussie journalist who had barely spoken to him all night. I've always liked Bobby's spirit, but from a distance. Close up, he's still not grown up. I'm a woolly liberal when it comes to giving second chances, but there has to be some remorse about the behaviour in the first place. Unless he profusely apologises and agrees to stay off the drink, it's time to say thanks but no thanks to Bobby.

| My sister asked me last season, "Do you know who Bobby Goulding is?" after he ran onto the pitch during her grandson's match in Widnes. He'll never change and should be dismissed.

| Quote: Bomber's tash "Whether or not Bobby has been responsible for the French's encouraging displays is debatable to say the least.
With Catalans now an established SL team the French should have naturally progressed over the last few years regardless of who coaches them for a few weeks a year.
It was a strange decision to appoint him, but he looked like coming out of the 4 nations with a bit of credit, he appears to have ruined that.
I'd be very interested how much Bobby gets paid for the French job which I'm sure is a fantastic lifestyle. Much less than he was on at Rochdale before he got sacked I would presume.
It appears Bobby i will never change despite been handed this fantastic opportunity.'"
£70k per season, part time. A drunken BG told us this when we went over to watch Wakey play Catalans this season. Bobby was supposed to be checking up on the French contingency but ended up joining in with the party atmosphere instead!
As yoiu say it seems he'll never change.

In 2005 at the cas v rochdale match goulding decided to make obscene gestures to the crowd (and he made sure it wasnt the end of the away stand with all those loud men in it, no he did it to the quiet end full of families).
Cant stand the bloke.

| When I read 'Goulding New France Coach' on teletext I thought there must be an Aussie of the same name. Couldn't believe he got the job. I've heard many stories from reliable sources which mean that he cannot be respected and I can't understand why France employed him. Why weren't they told?

| Funny thing was when I was watching the highlights of the France game at the w/e when the camera went to Bobby after they'd conceded I said somehting along the lines of I'm surprised he's not started a fight with the othe coach.

Surprised it made the Aussie press. The amount of bad behaviour in Australian RL, I thought you had to at least punch a woman to get in their press. Drunk ex-player is an everyday occurrence.

| Might not be very poplar on here, but I'll defend Bobby to a point.
If he did anything that warrants GBH (e.g. hitting Ganson), then I can't defend him, even if it is Ganson! But he really cares about the Fench team, and if the original times report about him being peeved that the French symbol isn't on the trophy, then I can see why a guy with his commitment to the French cause and a firey temper might thinkthat.
For him to be sacked would be a great reversal to the French game. He's got the playing again as they can, and restored the French with a bit of aggression (which maybe a reflection of hi own character) which was always part of the best French sides.
I met him after the Wakey game in Perpignan and you could tell he really cares about the french cause.

I agree with what you are saying but...... He is the coach of a professional national rugby league team and therefore has to act in a professional manner especially when it come to functions such as this one. If he could control his temper and get his passion out in other ways then he can only be good for the French game. Trouble is its a very big if.........
