| Quote WOODDDDDDDYA="WOODDDDDDDYA"Love this quote from Schofield “My best performances that year came in the Test series in New Zealand(1990) and I loved it when Phil Clarke told me that Shaun Edwards’s dad put pictures of me wearing the Great Britain number-six jersey up in his kitchen to motivate him into getting the jersey back. But from then on, Shaun wasn’t getting that jersey back, it was mine.'''"
Presumably the highlight of Schofield's career.
Meanwhile, in 1990 Shaun had already lifted 4 Challenge Cups, 1 World Club Challenge, 2 League Titles, 4 Regal/John Player Trophies, 3 Lancashire Cups and 1 Man of Steel - with plenty more to come. Which would Schofield have preferred do you think?

Schofield won the golden boot and MOS the following year. Knowing Schofield he revels in his reputation reputation as one of the most universally acclaimed players of his generation. He turned down huge money from Wigan to stay with Leeds. I don't think he's that bothered.
I notice you use the same argument as many Leeds fans use when comparing Sinfield to Flanders. An argument that Wigan fans rubbish everytime (Ricky Bibey has 2 CC medals etc).

He doesn't have much choice, really. That's the only line he can spew.

Well apart from being a MOS and Golden Boot winner, having record number of GB caps and being one of the best playesr in pretty much every team he played in. Where as once Edwards was out of his comfort zone at Wigan he was found wanting.

I think, upon reflection, I'd rather have Edwards' record. By a long way. You think Schofield wouldn't swap his scant honours for the chance to lift even a portion of 9 Challenge Cups, 8 League Championships, 7 Regal Trophies, 5 Premierships, 5 Lancashire Cups...not forgetting 3 World Club Championships and the Man of Steel in his own right. [size=85(and the Sydney and Middlesex 7s)[/size
For all the accolades and praise lauded on Schofield (I agree Schoey was a better individual player, while for me Edwards was a better team player), Edwards' record is simply unmatched.
And let's be honest, when Edwards was out of his comfort zone he was in the twilight of his career.

Meh. A mere blip in an otherwise unrivalled career. And he did his hamstring.

| During those pub debates, when you sit around with friends and select your imaginary " Best Great Britain Team Of Your Lifetime " ............... I have Schofield in the Centre, and Edwards on the bench ............... so I suppose I'll have to vote for Schofield.

| I think Schofield was the more talented player. I loved his cheeky chip and collect (don't know how to describe it) that led to the Paul Eastwood try against Australia at Wembley in 1990.
Edwards was a great player too mind.

Takes me back to Melbourne in 1992 with probably the best GB halfback performance I have seen in Aus.
Schofield was captain, MOM and produced his complete skillset( including chip kicks for tries) which helped to run the Aussies ragged in a win which was the 2nd largest ever by GB in an Ashes test.Shaun Edwards was his partner that day and contributed superbly. Mal Reilly was the GB coach in that series.
My vote would go to Schofield.

| You would want both of them in your team, but wouldn’t tell Schofield about the 20 year reunion
