| As a Hull fan I have mixed thoughts on Pearson's comments. I am very supportive of the International game and believe it is a big chance for RL to grow, and I also feel the Exiles are the only credible opposition to England in this hemisphere (France never get it together) England are already at a disadvantage with SL playing so many games and having a new coach who hasn't managed a game with them yet.
But due to lockdown and pitch work at the KCOM (out of our control it is Council owned and ran by Hull City's owners) we aren't playing at home in front of crowds until the end of June. This clashes with the Exiles game so we could potentially be without Connor, Mau'u, Sao, Satae, Fonua, Faraimo Tuimuvave etc so not only weakening us on the field, but depriving us of a bigger crowd (if the rules allow it)
Playing two loop games is madness, they should have taken the financial hit and given England a free weekend, and ditched one of the mid week rounds.

| Easy to say 'take the financial hit' but I don't know how the game can afford to lose any more money.

Lenegan was the biggest player behind the Super League breakaway. People with knowledge and experience told him it would be a disaster. But he tries to walk away without taking any responsibility whilst, no doubt deeply vexed that the people who told him it would end in tears were proven right yet again, tales a petty swipe at one of them at what was supposed to be Wigan's season launch.
'"
Once again Lenegan and other clubs (saints, salford. Wire, Fartown and Hull) were totally against the massive amount of SKY money that went to the Championship and supported the "Super eights" concept. The concept was flawed, and hadn't worked when used in soccer. It had been rejected by Scottish soccer and when stupidly used in RL SL crowds went down, and are yet to recover.
SL broke away and broke the RFL, redundancies aplenty as desks were cleared at Red Hall.
This new deal will see all the SKY money go to Superleague
Yes I agree entirely there is a disaster looming, but that's in the Championships. If you want to find chairmen crying you will find them in the Championship.

How about France being picked from any French player and any player playing for a French club.
Has to be far better than the ridiculous "exiles" picked from players who aren't here to play in sideshows.

This is a fair point.
However, at least with the play off system, one result shouldn't make a huge difference for the bigger clubs.
Indeed, Saints and Wigan have usually fielded a "second" team a couple of times in the season.
There should be a ruling whereby a game can be postponed if a club is losing say 4 (or more) players due to international fixtures.
Mind you the fixtures are crammed in as we are so, rescheduling could be a problem
The one certainty is that, having not played since the GB tour, the England players need some game time before the world cup, which surely has to take priority over SL.
On the point of not playing home games till June, this could be a master stroke by all involved - I'm envious, as you may get to see all of your clubs home games, the rest of us will definitely miss some .

France have been hammered every time England have played them in the last decade or so. They have good players but for some reason it just never clicks for then. They need a run of games against Wales/Ireland/Scotland to improve before they get a chance again.

Imagine celebrating that the sport is going to lose funding and that it will hit the weakest clubs most - whilst at the same time making apologies for the regime which led to the lower funding.
Since you seem to think comparing with football is a valid thing, how much Premier League money goes to divisions outside the the top flight? They don't believe some myth that the lucky few who managed to be in the top flight when the music stopped are somehow superior to or divorced from the rest of the sport. Wakey and Huddersfield and Salford are no bigger than Halifax or Widnes or myriad other clubs who have badly timed a fall from their historic fortunes.
Lenagan was behind the disaster that has led us to where we are now in terms of lower funding and massively increased outgoings. But it looks like deflection is the name of the game right now for him and for his apologists. It looks like he's the last true believer though as the management at Saints and Warrington - both clubs, incidentally, where off-field matters appear to be run rather more effectively than at Wigan - have long since stopped defending, or even supporting, the appointment of Elstone.

| On a positive note (and I can't believe I'm about to type this!) HullKR have proposed to build a fanzone at the end where away end is, like what Toronto had. And also a temporary stand to boost capacity in lockdown and for games with big away attendances.
Rare to see SL clubs actually spending some time and money doing something positive rather than apathy and then wondering why SKY want to pay less and interest in the sport is declining.

I don't think the "good players" actually play for them much albeit there was a test match in 2018 in which England had won by half time 34-0 Fages played but the team was mainly Catalans/Toulouse players and as it was a test match I suspect France had their best team out.
That team then indeed had a run of games and won the European championship to get a world cup place. This being against Scotland, Ireland and wales. For me French talent gets thinner and thinner on the ground, so if Toulouse are to join SL expect an an Anglo-Antipodean team.....

France just dont have enough players, certainly not enough of decent quality.
However, as a genuine RL playing nation, albeit in a small corner in the South West of France, they need to be encouraged / helped to increase the spread of the game and Catalan / Toulouse need to do a little more to develop what talent there is..
The problem for France is that England, poor as they are, are massively better than them and Scotland, Ireland Wales are not good enough to give them a real test but, like many of the international RL sides, the other "home nations" are massively contrived and as a sport, we should be trying to find ways to help spread the game within Wales and Scotland.
Maybe there should be a Welsh club in SL
Fundamentally, there is no vision for the sport as a whole and that will never change with Lenegan and McManus running the show, as they are really only bothered about their own clubs.

Scotland and Wales actually playing games at home would be a start and not Cumbria, Wakefield, Leigh or wherever. I know interest is low and the teams themselves have English accents but we have to at least try.

England always get hammered by Aus and NZ. Maybe we need a run of games against other RL heavyweights like Tonga, Poland and Spain?

What does "No vision mean" what are Lenegan and McManus blind to?
How did the show go when the RFL ran it?
What did they do with the biggest ever TV deal by Miles that Wood and Solly captured??

It's a TV deal for Super League. The RFL negotiated and got a great deal but the vast majority of the money went to the clubs under splits agreed between SL and the Championship clubs.
You think the RFL themselves had lots of money to splash around? Are you just mindlessly trolling now?
