You think 3,600 is a good crowd? It's very poor. Especially for a club with money at its disposal.

| Dire crowd, no excuses. With a decent Hull following and being a Saturday night game that is NOT on tv it should have got 5k minimum

We're constantly told we can't buy success, and that's true. We certainly can't buy crowds. It's very difficult to entice a jaded Salford public after thirty-odd years of constant decline and many false dawns. Only consistent success on the pitch will tempt them out. Add to this, the re-homing from the Willows away from its roots into a currently soulless building of metal and breeze blocks. With poor access, poor stadium management, and notorious RU Mongols Sale Sharks trampling all over whoever they happen to be sharing with, all of which are out of the Clubs hands. It's not surprising it's hard to attract old and new support.
The Club tries really hard promoting the Club in Schools, local amateur Clubs, shopping centres, and City billboards to name a few. The Salford public are apathetic to the cause and they really need to get behind their foremost Professional sports team before they lose it.

I wonder if salford will release the away fans following like huddersfield did, the opposite stand for the home fans wasnt very full tbh and the seating was well less than half
im only going by the photos on twitter as a guess, not sure how much both the end stands hold at salford

I agree with you on all of that sadly. It was always going to take time to make Salford a force at the top end of the league no matter what Koukash said and whatever cash he splashed it wasn't going to happen in a couple of seasons.I guess the horror show against saints won't have helped much along with all the negative headlines around marquee players like Hock and Locke.
I'm sure the crowds will improve when the team does, i just hope Koukash keeps patience because you have to fear for(especially the loyal fans like yourself) what will happen to the club if he walks away.

| Nice touch of the Benji's there!
I know everyone likes to slag Chase off, but I for one am glad he's in our game. Not saying he should play for England (or Wigan, God forbid!) or anything, but he is a talent, and, above all, an entertainer.
Y'know. like Saints used to boast they were.
Rugby league needs more Rangi Chase's not less.

Ironically, if Dobson was playing last night you wouldn't have seen that stuff and Hull may well have won. Chase is at his best when he's on his own and has the chance to express himself. Tim Smith is a good half back in his own right, but he just didn't work alongside Chase, and I'm not sure Dobson will either.
I think Salford either have to get rid of Rangi and sign a more conventional half, or let Rangi run the show on his own and embrace the fact that for every performance like that he will have one where it just doesn't work for him.

This.
You have to build the team around Chase and have the team setup for him. If you don't there's not much point having him. It's his biggest asset and his biggest liability too. Cas showed that if you do that he'll be incredibly good. But it's why I don't think he'll ever fit in to an international side like England.

| It is telling that as soon as Salford were forced away from Harris' rigid Wigan-esque 'attacking structure' and replaced it with 'give the ball to Chase and let him do what he wants', they became considerably more of a threat.

| That effort from Chase with the flick pass (not to mention the earlier dummy) was superb. Not many defences anywhere would have stopped that. He can be absolutely unbelievable at times. That skill level is so way beyond most halfbacks that its a real shame he can't show it for England.

| Just a note, Salford were without Michael Dobson, Ben Jones-Bishop, Cory Paterson and Kevin Locke. Obviously Gareth Hock left during the week and then both Niall Evalds (full-back) and Mason Caton-Brown (winger) were forced off the pitch through injury with Salford having no replacements back’s on the bench.
Rangi Chase was switched to full-back and as I am sure you will read, he was fantastic. It allowed him to leave the structured stuff to the make-shift half back pairing of Tommy Lee and Theo Fages whilst Rangi popped up into the line when and where he wanted. It was a pleasure to be there and watch him.
Regarding the crowd, when are people going to realise that due to years and years of defeats and poor league finishes there is a huge apathy for Salford Red Devils within the City. Again, we’re bigged up in the off-season only for the second game to consist of an absolute hammering off St Helens. I cant tell you how many “same old Salford” comments I heard for the week following.
As soon as we start winning games, particularly against the bigger teams (something we’ve struggled with over the last couple of seasons) crowds will increase. It really is that simple.
