Not really. He consistently comes across not as a chairman or chief exec, but as a 'fan' (a particularly obnoxious one at that) with more money than sense.

I've followed the Barrow masses ,having mates up there ,when the Cougars haven't had a game ,as well as having the pleasure of them visiting my bar when they have visited Cougar Park .. and yes they are loud & in your face and yes they without doubt enjoy a few' beverages'..but they are some of the most passionate and good humored fans in the league ...

I find the complaints from Saints fans extremely hard to swallow after my experiences at the Grand final a couple of years ago on a trip with my local junior club ,having witnessed so called 'Saints Fans' fighting in lumps, abusing anyone and throwing full bottles of liquid across the crowds in front of them ... I personally have never been as uncomfortable (and to be honest scared )at any game of RL ...or actually any sports fixture (football included)

This was not a few individuals but whole sections of the crowd ..

In so far as comments about Barrow fans are concerned, the word pot and kettle come to mind...

Talk about Chinese whispers !! If anyone reading this believes it, then you need to seek medical advice. The only grains of truth in any of it is that a couple of people were evicted for being too drunk and obnoxious (fair enough) and a single, teenage girl ran on the pitch during a break in play and patted Roby on the backside. Wrong, I agree, but the stewards didn't make any attempt to do anything about it.

Unlike the most of the posters on this matter, I was there. Most of the rest of it is bolocks and the whole matter is being exagerated and stirred-up by Championship SL license 'opponents' who are bricking themselves at Barrow's recent success.

So the Saints fans were just sat/stood there and were, suddenly, with no provocation, subject to the chairman 'swearing' at them. Get a grip pal.

This whole thing about celebrating Eastmonds injury is just nonesense. In every RL game I've ever been to this happens. Every game. As soon as people realised he was staying down the cheers stopped. He was clapped off the pitch by 99% of Barrow fans.

Horlicks......Many so called fans of RL have plenty to say about Des 95% is plain wrong and ingorant of the truth, I've heard of Saints folk shouting abuse to Des, Maybe he should have handlled it better, but to cliam he just started to abuse fans around him for no reason whatsoever I find very hard to believe.
