He was offered a contract, he didn't accept. How could he not know he wasn't being retained?

The club may be saying that it's not been possible to reach an agreement but do you know for a fact they told Hampshire that that was the end of negotiations? Maybe know the facts yourself too before you come on here and make yourself look an idiot?'"
He was offered a contract, he didn't take it. It was his choice to leave the club at the end of his current contract. His agent has clearly failed him if he hasn't sat him down and explained that without signing a contract he is out of work at the end of his current one

Dude, he knocked back the final offer Trinity could afford to make after months of talks, did he think the Club were just playing with him and cave in. As I said before he's one of a whole number of players leaving because they're OOC but only Hampshire has a problem?
Mountain out of mole hill doesn't even begin to cover this.

I like Rocky, though I feel his strength of versatility is actually his major weakness. He's a decent winger, a decent FB, can do a job in the halves , but does he fully nail down a position ? Think he played all but 1 minute for Wakefield all season though, plus his home town club . A shame a deal couldn't be sorted. I think both will move on from it reasonably positively.'"
Just said exactly the same on our forum. His constant Club moves the last dew years and not really nailing down one spot has probably stifled his development and maybe his asking price when talking about wages. He's played under some knowledgeable coaches and they all seem to agree that halfback isn't his best position but he's a excellent attacking threat who has that x-factor about him so they get him on the field.

| Big rumours that Castleford have paid a substantial fee for Danny Richardson.
I think there is a good player in there. Just needs to work on his game management

At Cas in 2016 he wanted to be a 6 but didn't really do enough. He was decent at full back but we had Luke Dorn when fit, he then went ages without playing and there was allegedly an attitude issue regarding what position he would play. Then he turned up again during an injury crisis during the super 8s and played wing and did a very decent job.

This is the thing, he wants to play in the halfs but isn't good enough. He's a competent FB and plays that spot well, he's also a decent winger but at Trinity would fall well behind Johnstone. His manager has failed him with expectation management, he's been coached by several excellent coaches and none of them feel he can play in the spot he wants to play. Maybe one day he will manage it, but at the moment, he just isn't there

| He is good enough in the halves, saw that at Easter. His problem was Chester’s love child no #2 Danny Brough.

Exactly this.
Shaun Wane wouldn’t play him in the halves, preferring to play other players out of position when they were missing half backs.
Powell wouldn’t play him in the halves and selected Grant Millington and Paul McShane ahead of him even when we had two half backs out.

Whilst this is true, some players work differently in different teams. When he played at 7 for us, we played the better rugby and won more games and scored more points than with others in that position.

That is just not true!
8 times this season in games we’ve scored 30 points or more...7 times Brough was scrum half and the other was Reynolds...
Six of those games ended in wins are were probably our best performances over the season and Brough played in them all.
In all my time watching I’ve never seen so much fuss over one player...I like Hampshire and I’d have liked us to have got him to stay but the reactions to this are just nonsense.
We offered him a contract and he didn’t sign it...he’s gone the wrong way about it mouthing off in the press...I don’t see any other players negotiating like that and had we given him the extra after him going to the press it would have set a very dangerous precedent...well done to the club on standing their ground and sticking to budgets under pressure from a number of fans...we’ve lost far better players in years gone by!

Having had Hampshire on loan Powell wanted to sign him, the problem was he had the same agent (Andy Clarke) as Solomona and because of this Cas would not deal with him, whatever else went on I don't know, but that's the reason he did not sign and nothing really to do with what position he wanted to play.
