| Other than London i can't see any SL club take a punt on any of those players.

| Quote: ThePrinter "What it really comes down to with NRL recruits is application. If they really give it their all or close to then they look great, if they go through the motions then you’d be better off getting a homegrown player for probably much cheaper. Barba is a perfect example of this when you compare his start of the season to the showings at the end of it.
Interesting to see Leeds dust off the cobwebs off the chequebook with a marquee signing and apparently a 2nd to follow. Becomes more clearer that it was the prolonged stadium work which lead to a lack of activity and spending, now that the work is pretty much done and how it’s all being paid for finalised then we know what we can spend. McDermott deserves even more credit for getting as much success out of the squad he had given he wasn’t given the same luxury with the chequebook.'"
think at Leeds it was a grose over estimate of the strength of the squad and some younger players not making the breakthrough that was expected rather than simply not wanting to spend, the squad on paper looked good strong at the start of the year, but injuries and some people simply not pulling there weight took its tole. sometimes it just falls into place sometimes you simply have to invest a bit more.

As a Widnes fan I can't really disagree. Lloyd White is a quality hooker but spends at least half the season on the sidelines.
For all of the hype, Whitley isn't that great.

Good player Danny but suspect in defence due to his size. He's very small and many clubs will target him. Can see Warrington loaning him straight back out next season.

I don’t think it was gross overestimation at all.
We’d been ambitious throughout the 00’s in signings with Peacock, Ellis. Lautitti, Webb, Buderus, Bai,Leuluai and Eastwood
In August 2010 Hetherington outlined the exact plans for the ground we’ve finally achieved now
news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_l ... 925235.stm
The South Stand was condemned around that same time and McDermott gets the top gig and austerity kicks in at Headingley. 8 years after those plans highlighted by GH and after plenty of battles with Leeds City Council over getting the work done with our original plan of selling land in Tingley and Weetwood shot down we’ve got the work pretty much finished and know how it’s getting paid for.....and low and behold the chequebook and ambition signings look to return.
McDermott’s hiring coincided with the South Stand being condemned and the stadium needing to be done. He rode out plenty of storms and calls for his head and convientky the axe fell when the stadium work was coming to be completed and sorted just for another guy who wouldn’t have come under such tight chequebook purse strings to take over.
McDermott was never a huge fan of youngsters and preferred experience and to think he was happy to just have the likes of Sutcliffe, Handley, Golding, Lilley to take over is naive People blame him for the squad we have saying he was involved in recruitment but do you really think he walked into GH’s office with a transfer list with the names of Ormondroyd, Aston, Mullally and Yates at the top of it.
People thinking the last few years at Headingley was just taking the eye of the balls or oversight need to wake up.

| Some great signings from the Wolfpack, they will rip their Championship opponents to shreds.
Ricky Leutele must be the best player to ever play in the Championship, incredible they’ve managed to get an NRL star when Super League clubs are struggling to sign them.
