Get used to the issue that most of us 'flatcappers' said that The Crusaders were too short in the teeth to be a viable club in the time given to them by the RFL.

Fail to plan = plan to fail.

I have no desire to see any club fail but quite simply Crusaders are not ready for this - it's too soon and it simply smacks of desperation by the RFL in them practically forcing the club into Superleague. It's no wonder this great sport isn't taken seriously - the news if Crusaders do go under will be met by a massive shrug of the shoulders by Joe Public.

For all their fans, I sincerely hope it works out for them.

Fail to plan I'm assuming you hold similar views about Wakefield.

It is a sad time for all Crusaders fans and also the sport in general. But the bottom line is the club is a shambles off the field. Apart from the fact they are in Wales they would not be considered for a franchise. The quote on a previous post of fail to plan, plan to fail is very appropriate. But they are where they are so good luck for the sake of the punters who put their hard earned cash into a blatantly corrupt organisation. But, for me, call it quits and come back when you can do yourselves justice.

Pretty much yes in the fact that I wish them no ill.

They have, however a long established history in the sport and have had ample time and opportunity to get their house in order bearing in mind all that's gone before - including the misfortune that befell or was created by my own club.

They've had time, Crusaders haven't. Wakey should be viable, Crusaders couldn't be in the time they've had.

WELSH RUGBY LEAGUE - PRIDE & PASSION IN THE FACE OF ADVERSITY:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_36819.jpg

Wrexham Village have run the club a lot better than Samuels and it seems pretty clear a lot of the debt was run up by previous mismanagement by the team in charge whilst the club were at Bridgend. Tell me a club of our size that doesn't have their worries outside of the top 4 earning clubs or so. Hand on heart I feel Wrexham Village can make a great go of this club.

If the club get through this I think the signs are there that we will thrive at Wrexham but it is a big if. Since being at Wrexham the club have been trying to control and pay off the various debts that were accumulated whilst the club were in Bridgend but the HMRC winding up order has hit us for six. The crisis meeting in the next few days should shed some light on affairs.

I really do hope that if we do come out of this the other side people see us as the club that finished 8th and in the play off's in Super League as well as the team that averaged larger crowds than some more established clubs during our first season in a new town. Also keep in mind the fact a large proportion of the European Cup winning welsh team that overcame France last month would not have played rugby league to any standard close to that which they have done without Crusaders rugby league and Scorpions which came as a direct result of the formation of Celtic Crusaders and the move. Some will want to see us as the club that had saga after financial saga but I really think if we can ride this out we will come out the other side a stronger and better run club on a sure footing. That is all.

Of course you will have the usual vultures circling and gloating in another clubs misfortune but that is inevitable and will always happen to a certain extent.

We're still alive and kicking at the moment and the club chairman has been stated as 99% certain rugby league will be at the Racecourse next season. I would have preferred him to have said Super League but I'm happy for any shred of hope at the moment.

As I have said previously the difference between the way the club is run in Wrexham and how it was down in Bridgend is World's apart. I am in no doubt who is greatly at fault for the current predicament (although Wrexham FC fans don't trust the current lot one bit). I just hope Wrexham Village have a chance to establish the club they started to drag back to it's feet. Fingers and everything else crossed.

Quote: SmokeyTA "why?'"

Quite simply because as the saying goes

Honesty is the best policy

Our sport was built on the need for honesty , that is why we split from the Union

Unfortunatly the RFL prefer to ' pretend ' things rather than actually face up , state what they want and explain why they have to do the things they do

They are weak and childish in their approach to clubs , their owners and fans

No , you are wrong , we all predicted these problems 2 /3 years ago , you didn't need to be a rocket surgeon to see it , it was plain for anybody with half a brain cell

So you are calling us ' stupid ' , look in the mirror my friend if that s what you are looking for

We've had the same amount of time as all other clubs currently in Super League. icon_rolleyes.gif

At the last round of franchises we were one of the best 12 applicants and were awarded a 3 year license the same as all other Super League clubs. Franchising was brought in to get clubs to 'get their house in order' wasn't it? If so, what relevance has any amount of time before that got?

Along with Crusaders and all other clubs we will be judged on the progress which we've made since the last round of franchises (not any time before then) and if we're one of the best 12 then we will be in again.

I hope Crusaders get things sorted as I wish all teams well. It's hard times at the moment and RL is no different to many other teams in many other sports struggling. As fans of the game we should all be getting behind teams instead of trying to stick the boot in when they're down, it's a sad mentality in the game though unfortunately!

Seriously though, once London Broncos went belly up, were re-admitted and then relocated...the RFL shut the door firmly on any grey areas surrounding recievership and financial restructuring.....If Crusaders, or any other team go belly up, then there's an immediate points deduction against the team and a bigger black mark against the application for a licence...as was proved with Widnes.
The club I support are blessed with abenefactor, who has single handedly supported them through some pretty hard times......it is people like him that Super League need...people who see the bigger picture and play the long game....not some who expect to create a SL team from nothing and have it full of local talent in 3 years and in the GF by year 5.

I hope Crusaders can get through this...I have no doubt they will be an asset to SL and European RL in years to come......it just takes time and money with a decent helping of patience
