| Quote: Anakin Skywalker "I'm still confused as to how it is even possible to track the wrong player.
Surely you track a player and find he is nowhere near the ball so you go back and track another one.
In fact that excuse creates more questions then it answers.'"
Kind of what I thought. Which player did he track? Green was in front of everyone wasn't he so was always offside?
Surely if he tracked a player other than Green, he'd have tracked a player that didn't even touch the ball?
I don't buy it at all. It was definitely the worst decision I've ever seen from a match official in my life (a match official with plenty of time to make a decision, plenty of camera angles and no grey area for interpretation). Honestly don't see how Ganson can come back from this.

Green was actually straddling the halfway line. And in any case his position relative to the markings has no impact on how far offside he was.
I've told you what the official explanation is. You may want to speculate on other possible reasons. I'd advise doing it away from a public forum though, as you'd basically be accusing both Ganson and the RFL of lying. FWIW I've watched the incident multiple times and I find it difficult to see which player Ganson was tracking instead of Green, but apparently that's what he did.
BTW - hysterics and insults don't really help your point. I know you're in pain but try to show a little class, eh?

He is not offside until he encroaches the 10 metres or at least interferes in play. For instance if Eden catches the ball and dosnt move then the player has to give him ten yards, if he dosnt he will be called offside. Thinking the penalty would then go back to the place where the ball is kicked is quite frankly laughable.

| The interview with Jon Sharp is excruciating; he "tracked the wrong player" - what does that even mean? Given all of the available technology, time and knowledge of the rules, how the hell do you track the wrong player when looking for a possible off-side?
This one goes beyond the realms of cock-up, misinterpretation or error of judgement - it defies all possible logic that he wouldn't be looking at Greene on at least one of his reviews of the incident, particularly given the impact the decision would have on the outcome of the game. I'm also baffled as to why Mr Thaler didn't spot it on the big screen during the review and say, "I've got it Steve - the FC player was off-side."
I try to avoid ref-induced hysteria, but this one is difficult to explain away.

| Just get Eddie and Stevo doing it, that would be more fun.

Sharp could only pass on the explanation given by Ganson. Although I'd have liked an indication of which player Ganson [idid[/i track as there are no obvious candidates that I can come up with after multiple viewings.
Once the decision is passed to the VR the on-field ref has no power to overrule. It probably never occurred to Thaler that Ganson would need any help spotting the offside anyway.

| Ganson has to be sacked from reffing again. To think he is actually employed by the rfl to train other refs and guide jnr refs is really quite depressing!

I'm sure I heard Cummings say recently that that's not actually the case; I could be wrong though.

He's already retired from refereeing. My guess would be that like Cummins before him the intention was to use him as VR on weekends where there were a lot of games. Guess that plan may need revising now.
