| Quote Kennedy="Kennedy"I know with Saints or Leeds reaching the final, they will take a lot of fans. But with a team that is based in Southern France reaching the final, this isn't good news for OUR game.
They brought less than a thousand fans to their last challenge cup final in 2018. I imagine 'Bachelors Mushy Peas' & 'Betfred' will be giving shed loads of tickets away for this game.

| Quote Donnyman="Donnyman"Go steady here, how many fans did Salford take to the Grand Final?
When Sheffield won the RL challenge cup the crowd was 18.000 down on the previous year.'"
Perhaps it's me, but I have no idea what point you are trying to make regarding the comparison with Salford. I might be missing something, but they don't have consistently high home crowds but took plenty to the neighbouring borough for the Final, you could easily walk from their current Home ground and the one previous to Old Trafford.
Are you suggesting incorrectly that Salford didn't take many fans because they struggle for support, or are you suggesting that Catalans will bring plenty because it's their first appearance and therefore distance/logistics are of no consideration?

We sold out our tickets I'm sure you can see the full stands at Old Trafford, what is your unhealthy obsession with us ?
Also it seems lots of people wanted to see this match on TV breaking all records.
[iSaturday’s Grand Final between St Helens and Salford set a new Super League record for a live TV audience.
The Old Trafford showpiece had a 43% increase in viewing figures compared to last season’s final, becoming the most-watched game since 1996.
Super League has seen a positive growth all season, seeing an 11% increase in live audience in 2019.
The Sky viewing figures for Saturday are understood to have peaked at 398,000, while the BBC highlights hit a peak of 600,000.[/i
Whatever it is with us you need to get over it or maybe you need help ?

"Our Game"
Last time I checked Rugby League was a sport for anyone and everyone. The idea that somehow Catalan fans don't belong in the "Our game" club is ridiculous.
if by "Our game" you mean the M62/Heartland fans. You lot will continue to hold the game back and actually enjoy its demise.

| Quote wrencat1873="wrencat1873"This is great in principle.
However, the tickets, usually set aside for the fans of the 2 finalists, have to sell within a week and getting from Perpignan to Manchester isnt the easiest or most regular flight routes and that is in normal (per covid) times.'"
I didn't mean any particular club should sell its allocation more that the game itself should have enough fans regardless of who they support who want to go and watch the grand final selling out the stadium.

I think that you are missing the point.
I'm not sure what the allocation of tickets is for each finalist but, assuming that it's 15,000 ??, then Catalan are very unlikely to sell those before the final.
At what point should they be put on general sale and will there be time or the inclination for other fans to buy them.
There really should be something in place in either of the finalists cant sell their allocation, assuming of course that the remainder of the tickets have already been sold ?

| We go every year and will look forward to Saturday. I’ve missed one through choice since 1998 (I think it was 2009 when Lee Smith played a blinder) and the other lads haven’t missed a single one until Covid took their record last year. The RFL will surely work on a plan now to close a lot of the top tier areas and get that bottom level full. It is a great final for the neutral but it’ll do well to break 50,000 I reckon. As long as they manipulate the areas people can sit in that will look ok on tv. The fact Catalans are in the final probably can’t be measured but I certainly don’t see it as a negative.

| Looking on the seating plan they currently seem to be selling seats every other row to make it look more full and the top tiers in some stands currently not on sale.

| Four foot snake, For ages I've seen comments about wanting to see different teams in a Grand Final, we get one and it prompts posts about the crowd being down.

I don’t think they’ve given cats an allocation? Just a link on their website and direction to buy in that end...all Catalan end are in general sale and top tier is shut (presumably to open if they sell out the bottom tier). Best way of doing it imo as they’ll not be more than 2k from the south of France simply because that’s probably the maximum that can get here, unless thousands are willing to do a 15h car journey and covid tests like Tomkins did etc. So let the neutrals take them up
Sales don’t look great atm but you’d imagine a couple of thousand catalans and hopefully 10k neutrals will fill up the Catalan end and cheer them on.
Recon we’ll be looking at a crowd of 10k short...about 58-60k with top tier behind the Catalan goal shut. If that’s the case it’ll look fine as long as they get the tv angles right...having been to most recent GFs Saints and Wire have both only half filled the top tiers behind the goals at times and you hardly notice

| ...but what doesn’t make sense is that they had a promo on with Man U last week, with 20% off tickets with code MANU20.
Yet the code isn’t now working.
Surely you want to encourage 5-10k United fans with discounted tickets...I think that happened for Salford the other year and prob needed again
