| I really hope this is genuine.
Super league could really boom if all 14 clubs were playing in quality stadia infront of bigger crowds! The game could grow massively. You only have to look at what it has done for other clubs!

| If you build it they STILL will not come!!!!
Glad Salford have probably got a new stadium, but can they "sell the club, team, game etc" to the people?
That I doubt sadly

| Well it was on Granada reports last night showing the digger starting up. Its official, they've taken a bit of grass away!
Good news that it's started and not just showing an "artists impression" They did say that the shopping "experience" would follow after the stadium was up and running but didn't state how long before that would be. Question though, how successful will the shops be seeing as the trafford centre is just over the bridge and just over the river on the same side of the bridge they've got another little shopping thing with Dunelm mill and stuff there. (sorry can't for the life of me remember the name of the small shopping bit, even though I drove past it every night for 2 years going home from work! lol)

| Salford will have to be playing in this stadium by the time they submit their franchise application in Spring 2011, otherwise it can not be scored under the franchise criteria. At least that is what Leigh were told when the last rounds of the franchise applications were submitted. From memory the LSV stadium was already built but awaiting a safety certificate and the RFL refused the stadium to be considered. Of course the RFL are very consistant on these matters and the goal posts will not be moved.

| Even as a Leigh fan, with the stadium built and awaiting safety certificates, we were still miles behind Widnes, but in front of Salford in my opinion.

| In front of Salford in what respect(s) exactly? If you mean stadium built, then I'll give you that but if it's anything else could I just prod your memory and say that by the end of that season we had won both the Northern Rail Cup and the Grand Final and in neither of those finals did Leigh figure. Indeed if promotion and relegation had still been in place we would have gone up by right and we would still be in SL now under that same regime. Also, I don't recall Widnes being in either of those finals yet you were miles behind them according to you. Finally, If you had not had a reprieve because of Gateshead going belly up earlier this year you would have been plying your trade two divisions below us. If that's being ahead of us then I shudder to think what your world would look like if you were behind us!!!

The retail planning permission is for "bulky non-food goods", so not what's at the Trafford Centre. The owners of the Trafford Centre are part of the joint venture that's building the stadium, so they obviously have their own ideas about the retail side of it (the retail land is landlocked and worthless until the stadium access roads are built), and the new road scheme that's going in place will link the site up with the Trafford Centre area via a new bridge over the Ship Canal joining the road to the ski centre. Fingers crossed, that bridge will one day bring Metrolink through the stadium site and on to Port Salford.

| I notice the design isn't quite as ' Iconic ' as the original , or as big , in fact it looks very similar to the LSV,Stobart and the HJ , the next LEGO stadium
Anyway , I do hope it gets built

At the time of submission of the franchise bids neither did we.
