They too would have been beaten by the Bunnies, however they would have gone down with more passion than St’s mustered tonight.'"
Crieky, even Salford would've gone down with more passion tonight. Well maybe not, but almost anyone else in SL would've put up a better show.

Easy
To be fair, I thought I was having my recurring nightmare about last week's game but with a strange dreamy twist....

| Cannot wait until we play Leeds. If ever there was a softcock team then that is Leeds Rhinos. Your dads army pack would of been destroyed aswell tonight.

Yeah because we got rolled over easily recently by very good Melbourne and Manly teams like Saints did tonight.
We've not won all our WCC games but we've never been embarrassing like what we saw tonight from Saints.

Had you played Souths tonight then you would have been embarrassing. They would have outclassed all our teams and by some margin.
It's not the first time Saints have been embarrassing in world club championships. The last time it happened was just a couple of years before our team put all to the sword in 2006. At the end of the day it's winning the Grand Final to get into the WCC that is the achievement. And your guys didn't make it past the first round of the play offs last season. Couldn't beat the Dragons, who we beat well.

I'm pretty certain we would've lost to Souths tonight too.....probably comfortably, but not to the embarrassing degree Saints did tonight. Let's not forget we beat Manly in 2012 and lost to Melbourne in 2013 by 4 points.......now people can argue that those teams weren't as quite as good as this Souths side which I could agree with, but they weren't exactly average now were they?
Saints stumbled to a LLS because Leeds and Cas managed to throw their chances away towards the end. They ran into 2 sides in Cas and Catalans that were physically spent by the time they faced Saints and you only JUST managed to scrape past 12 men for 78 minutes.
Truth is, this St Helens side COULD be very good.....unfortunately we've not been able to properly judge it as they've not run into opposition who didn't shoot themselves in the foot in SL.

| Ha ha, people point scoring as to whose team would have stood the best chance tonight.
The answer – none.
Let the petty squabbling go & try and think of a way to solve the enigma, my theory is crap grounds.

| I doubt any of the top SL teams would have been beaten like that tonight. I reckon they'd have put up a better fight.
I also reckon that if Saints played that game 10 times they wouldn't put in another performance as poor as that one.
Saints were poor. Souths were very good. The bounce of the ball helped Souths.
I think the 3 games overall were a decent indicator of the comparative states of the 2 leagues.
When we play well we can match and beat them. But we don't play well as regularly and for as long in each game as they do.

The first game against Manly was pretty embarrassing - if they hadn't taken their foot off the gas the last 15 minutes the score would have not been a lot different to this.

What this shows is with everything in our favour we can give their mid table sides a game but their very best sides are on a different planet to ours. If this game was played mid-season in Australia it would be a masacre

| Yep, our top teams are mid-table NRL standard, and the top of the NRL and particularly the Bunnies and Roosters are miles ahead pf most of the NRL as well as SL.

| Souths played controlled footy, had a great kick & chase and did the basics well. They scored some y tries and got the bounce of the ball, St Helens couldn't take a trick. SL teams have to more aggressive in future and not turn over so much cheap pall.

Disagree. Avoided commenting/reading the thread of this game as i knew it would be full of "SL embarrassing"
"We're miles behind etc"
I just enjoyed watching a rugby league masterclass last night in one of the most complete performances i have seen. Probably only bettered by Australia's in the 2013 WC final. Doesn't matter which SL side Souths faced yesterday Leeds, Saints, Wigan, Warrington, they would have all been comfortably beaten.
Every thing Souths did yesterday should be shown to all juniors. There passing was sublime. nearly all their passes were exactly where the man running on to the ball wanted it. Just in front of them into the breadbasket. Yes Souths had a bit of luck with he bounce of the ball. But they made their own luck as just about everyone on the team were chasing their kicks.
Did football fans moan about how far every single football team were behind Barcelona 3/4 years a go when they absolutely dominated. I just appreciated a fantastic rugby league team last night rather than focusing negatively on everything. Souths will embarrass plenty of NRL teams this year.
We need to stick to the WCC series, but this time have a qualification process from the NRL too.

Agree with this, although the highlight for Souths yesterday was their defence.
There were 2 occasions yesterday when Saints had "certain" tries but, the effort & technique to deny them was utterly superb.
The desire to work hard as a unit, plus, no lack of ability, made it compulsive viewing, even with such a lop sided score line.
