It might surprise you to learn that not everybody has even heard of the British and Irish Lions. Jason Robinson hadn't until he was picked for them. So being captain of them doesn't exactly count for much in the recognition stakes.

Stunning. i was going to read all 11 pages of this but had to stop at this point.

Thomas was a Lions captain and a world class player. He is a very strong runner and is physically still in very good nick. In his prime he would have been an outstanding league player.

I read some would want him in the secondrow etc....what planet are you on. If he signs he will play on the wing or at fullback and he will go very well for the next 18 months.

His style of play is totally league orientated, he will not have to learn anything new and personally i cannot wait to see him play.

The British and Irish Lions just aren't a big deal in England unless you are a hard-core unionite (and even then not necessarily).

Many people might watch the 6 nations or the Heineken Cup without having much interest in union but very few give a cr4p about the Lions.

So dreadful that he kept winning international caps...

Big cat names aren't exactly unusual in either code of rugby and lions are particularly associated with Britain.

It would be like the All Blacks getting precious about the haka and insisting that the Kiwis stop doing it (though I wouldn't put it past them).

Ha ha... yeah League did have a GB Lions team but england reckon they can take on Oz and NZ alone now.!!!

and i cant remember there being 60,000 RL fans supporting england at home let alone the GB RL Lions in OZ or NZ.... No Comparison.!
