Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

| Absolutely bull$h1t IMO - clubs like ourselves, Cas, Wakey etc would have got the boot as soon as we entered administration. No surprise at all though considering what club it is.

How do Crusaders add value to the Sky TV deal? I still don't buy into this assumption that a Welsh club in SL equals more Welsh subscriptions to Sky (same with the London theory about it too - rubbish IMO).
In an RL city like Hull then yes - subscriptions to Sky will have risen since there became to SL clubs in Hull, but in a part of the country where no-one cares about RL (e.g. London) it won't have any effect at all.
Widnes on the other hand I'm sure will contribute to Sky's success when they are (hopefully) given their SL place back.

theres a quote by a vic wakeling who said that very thing. having a welsh SL side was apparently very attractive to sky.
maybe when you get a job working as head of sports for sky you can just ignore wales.
until then ....

| Quote: braytontiger "its another bitter blow to the heartland clubs that are fighting tooth and nail to stay in the top flight and those that are doing likewise in the championship trying to better themselves.
im all for expansion and making it work but would the same be done for lets say a wakefield if they were in the same financial trouble.
for those that dont think this has an effect on other clubs think again another team will lose their place in super league come june and it wont of been done by using a level playing field has crusaders, quins and catalans wont even be in the mix up and are a shoe in for a franchise spot when 2 of the 3 clearly have failed to meet the rfl`s criteria set three years ago for maintaining a franchise.
you couldnt make it up the rfl are a joke who make the rules up has they go along to fit their agenda.
exactly
the RFL should give up on expansion and take whatever limited funds they have and pump it into clubs like wakey who despite 100 years to get it right still havent
maybe the next 100 will sort them out if only the RFL back them

| I don't quite get the international argument... Surely the biggest worry is how far England are falling behind Aus and even more so NZ rather than trying to get Wales to a better standard, what happened to focus on France? Or we doing the usual SL club brings in Aussies, 3 years later they qualify internationally and then we talk about how far they have come? (fair play to Welsh euro nations squad in that point this year though).
Being honest a stronger England will just lead to better Wales / Irish / Scottish sides where people Danny Brough can't get a game! At the moment Englands decline is as fast as others rise. Hopefully soon the RFL will remember the reasons they told us all they brought the franchise system in and start working toasted that aim as round one has failed purely & simply.

Come on Dally.I think every fair mided RL fan is in favour of expansion and even allowing expansion clubs little benefits not afforded other clubs but don't you think this takes the pee, just a little bit and harms the image of the game?

No other creditors where turned over? Really
Maybe you should tell this bloke off our other forum
"London Broncos were put into receivership after failing to agree a deal with 2 major creditors. The club broke no rules in force as far as the RFL were concerned (& none of the debt was owed to them) and the new club were admitted after a vote of all the then SL clubs. The RFL changed the rules afterwards, Broncos merely used the rules then in force to their benefit. I won't name the 2 major creditors but their identity is widely known within the game.
FYI, I also lost money when this occured as I was owed for items by the club.

1. magic weekend going back to wales
2. wales co hosting the 2013 RLWC
3. wales qualifying for the quad nations
4. crusaders having a fair season re. crowds and on field performance
5. sky saying they value a welsh SL club re. the SL contract.
RFLs done exactly the right thing
if it were me in charge id be giving them 500,000 pounds extra a season to help them out financially from the RFLs revenues.

No I honestly just don't feel that Crusaders in SL makes/will make a significant difference to the number of Sky subscriptions in Wales. £40-£60 for a Sky subscription is a lot of cash, so when Crusaders are on Sky away from home, I would guess more people would be likely to watch it in their local (which might cost a tenner for a few beers) compared to a monthly subscription, just my opinion though.
Re London I feel the same - maybe with football and RU it might be the case, but for Quins in SL I just doubt it makes much difference.
