| Take it on the chin, build your club and juniors and believe in the process. Just because you have a better stadium than Wakefield doesnt mean you deserve to be in SL. Seems like real sour grapes and an unnecessarily negative attitude toward the future of the game. Fax can get in SL but only with positive building and progress. Focus on that.

...and that's what we'll have to do (unless another SL club can't balance it's books, and then it all starts again). What SL supporters need to just stop and think about is how they'd feel if they found themselves in the Championship with 3 years to wait until they had a [ichance[/i to apply for a place back in SL... and then found that they were rejected again, and faced yet another 3 years before re-applying.
Fax fans would be no different if they were in SL talking about other clubs wanting to join the party. Indeed, when Fax were in SL, I confess to not knowing a great deal about what was going on in the lower leagues (until the end of the season, when there was some interest in who was coming up).
The thing about P&R (for a supporter) is that you at least get a chance to go up (and down) every season. Franchising (with a great deal more transparency) may well be best for the game at the top level, and tbh the standard of semi-pro rugby is far better than it used to be (not sure why, other than the general level of fitness is much better now), but for excitement and interest for the fans P&R is a far better sporting experience.

| Quote: dagger "The government after their review of football recommended that long-term the only way to guarantee the stability and growth of any professional sport is through a licencing system like those used in North America and Australia. Its being recommended for the biggest most important sport in our country now.
Stadiums have improved and more kids have come through. Widnes were a mess last time round but now will be able to compete well in SL
But Fax are annoyed so lets scrap the whole thing'"
You just don't get it do you , it isn't the fact Fax didn't get up , it's the way they were used to give credence to the process , and then basically get ignored , if their application was as bad as been rumoured ( which in itself must have been leaked by the RFL ) then surely the RFL should have either asked them to withdraw or re submit
Was it the way they applied ? Or the content of their application ?
Don't forget , they sent their application in over 6 months ago , along with Widnes and Barrow , so the RFL have had plenty of time to sort this out
Or did they not even bother properly looking at Faxs application till the Tuesday morning after Crusaders withdrawal

You just don't get it do you?
The RFL were p'ed off at Fax, because despite being told exactly how to improve their bid, throughout the bid process, they still presented a poor document.
The RFL didn't want Wakey in, but the Fax bid was so weak (and the Wakey one so much better than expected), that the result was a done deal.
Mr Steele's immediate reaction to the announcement clearly demonstrated the level of their "professionalism".

TBF Smokey, they were told, as other clubs were, where their weaknesses in the document lay. Fax just didn't have the personel with the capability to do the necessary.
They are, in principal, a throw back to the '60's - run by local butchers', grocers'.

They are told this any time they want, The RFL and clubs are in fairly regular contact. It just makes it worse if the bid just wasnt very good.

Where I work, if we had an internal applicant (we're all in the RFL) who applied for a job along with two others, for one position but wasn't successful, but had an application sufficiently good that we invited them to apply again in six months when another opportunity arose, then yes, absolutely. We'd give them feedback and practical advice on how to make their new application much better.
Having invited them to apply again, I'd generally expect them to get the job unless the other applicants put in submissions that were really outstanding. Being recently fired (just to keep the analogy going, read "going into Administration"icon_wink.gif [iwouldn't[/i make for an outstanding application (given that financial stability was such a major factor according to Lewis).

As you seem to know this , you also must know details of their application , how did you come by this information ?
Was it the content of the bid , ie Fax just telling the truth instead of the usual made up rubbish that gets you a licence
Or was it the way the put forward their application , ie they didn't re write ' War and Peace '

If somebody submitted a bad CV that gave them no chance of the job , would you still interview them 6 months later ?

Whereas the shiny ar[ise[/id professionals in SL just go bust, don't pay their players and turn up in the wrong kit. Get off your ivory tower you jerk off.

If they were the 14th best candidate for 13 positions, then yes.

OOOOoooohhhhh.
You sound like Mr Steele! Are you Mr Steele?
It would explain a lot.
When you tell a 4 year old to improve their colouring by staying within the lines, they learn from that advice.
The Fax bid looked like Jackson Pollock! Shouldn't have used crayons!!
