...the old "big club" nonsense!!!
Its a subjective and not relevant thing which some like to pontificate.
Third biggest city???? Depends on whether you going on metropolitan areas or city boundies. Many a list of populations for Leeds include places like Rothwell, Pudsey, Garforth, Morley etc.
The Leeds Urban Sub Division had a population of 474,632 in 2011, the metropolitan district has a popution of around 715k.
declining team.'"
But the Manchester Metropolitan district is smaller than Leeds. Manchester doesn't include Salford or Trafford. That's hardly Leeds's fault. It all depends on what you mean by... London is the largest city in the country, but just a minute, the City of London is one of the smallest. Again whichever measure you choose, the fact remains that the only other cities with a SL side are Hull and Salford. And Salford are hardly inspirational. Indeed does anyone really know where Salford is? Is it Eccles, Irlam? Cadishead? Pendlebury? Walkden?

I would have thought the land owner would have had a decent say in proceedings.
Very much doubt it will come out of cash and they are not borrowing to have the work done

This is the second time this has been quoted yet no evidence to back it up.
Stop making out RL is a victim here. Your post suggest RL has been singles out for poor treatment, yet you cannot state how or why.
There are plenty of trailers on sky for forthcoming RL games.

Sky don't give a monkeys about how exciting or boring RL is. Or any sport for that matter. They care about the numbers watching on tele & the social class they are in.

I'm not quite sure what you mean but Salford is a City made up of 20 boroughs or wards pretty much like any other city probably anywhere in the world.

| Quote: Mild mannered Janitor "So, no actual facts here, just an opinion, to which you are entitled.
Can you provide proof that little thought or effort goes into it? What are you expecting to see?
For Terry O'Connor in RL there are countless piundits across skys sports coverage who are either not great at presenting or are there to deliberately state controvertial issues. Part of the issue, IMO is not the quality of ToC its how he comes across. Unfortunately the broad northern accent is not commonly heard on TV. John Wells comes over well as his accent is softer and less "to the point".
There is plenty of advertising of future sky games, so that is an incorrect statement. I am guessing here, but if you only watch RL on Sky, then no doubt you will miss the adverts for RL which occur when they are showing Tennis / Football / Cricket etc.
Can't have a dig at Sky for the Catalans games, that coverage is provided by Canal+.
But the question remines, what are you expecting to see, what, in your opinion would make it better?
One improvement all sports broadcasters could make is to avoid showing the coach on the bench / in the stands or the face of someone in the crowd, whent the game is still in progress!!!!'"
I expect to see the programme revamped every couple of years. Not the same intro sequence thats badly out of date along with the same music, some of which has been there for decades and is now cringe inducing to hear. I expect to see productions where there isn’t loss of sound or problems with equipment. The fact that nothing has changed on the Sky production for several years shows the lack of effort and the fact that you have a commentary team where at least one member can’t speak properly or clearly is an issue that has never been addressed.
I watch loads of Sky, be it Sports. Cinema, TV etc, there is not loads of advertising for RL and there certainly isn’t when it comes to Sky’s seasonal advertising.
I very much can have a dig at Sky for the Catalans games, I don’t care where they get their feed from, if the audio or pictures don’t work properly that’s their problem. I don’t pay Canal, I pay Sky.
The move from Saturday to Thursday night games, even during the football off-season is another example.
As for what would make it better? Get a new producer in, one who hasn’t been doing it for the last 20 years and has clearly “gone native”. Need rid of the deadwood, stupidly massive commentary team. Have one commentator, one contributor like every other sport manages with. Updated graphics/sound. More of the Carney/Wells stuff that actually sounds vaguely professional and less of the 5 blokes talking rubbish in a pub stuff that the commentary team give us.

Or Leeds, who are owned by Caddick, are the landowners. But Caddick's long-term dream has been to redevelop Headingley.
Leeds had accumulated about £6m-£7m of cash reserves which was earmarked for the South Stand project in its previous incarnation which would have covered most of the cost of that. The structure actually being built is rather larger and more expensive so it won't go quite as far but is still a decent chunk.
The balance, and the more complicated/expensive bit on the north side of the RL ground is being funded by loans from Legal & General guaranteed by Leeds City Council.
How much of the £6m/£7m is now to be used to pay up front for the South Stand I don't know as Caddick has taken to using the Rhinos as a piggy bank and £3.3m of it has been loaned to Caddick group companies with another £800k being used to fund some some eyebrow-raising directors loans to Hetherington and Oates.

And a very nice one too. Travel over for gigs at warehouse 23 and drinks in Harry’s bar. The Hepworth is worth a look and some beautiful parks.
If we are talking about the whole of the Leeds district (presumably including hunslet then?) then Huddersfield could be considered as representing the whole of Kirklees in superleague. I haven’t forgotten about Dewsbury and Batley but this is the vt where people don’t care about anything outside of superleague. They have a premier league football team to compete with though. Unlike Leeds whose football team is sh17

As the majority of your posts on rlfans have Leeds as the main theme, I’d suggest you’re a troll or need to talk to somebody about your little obsession

I never said they didn’t own the rights or that they can’t do what they want with it. They could pay for the rights and not show a single game if they wanted. That doesn’t mean that’s what I think they should do.
The changes I mentioned are not anything that would cost Sky any money. It’s only what they do with most of their other sports programmes. It can’t possibly be in Sky’s interest to broadcast a poor programme, yet that’s what they’re doing. As I said, change the producer and I reckon you’ll soon see some positive changes.

Option 1.
You as a sky customer complain to them....they won't give a flying one....they get 100k to 150k for games and doubt they'll get any more viewers as RL is a sport you have to look for, not one where you'll catch casual viewers.
Option 2.
The people who are responsible for negotiating the TV deal on behalf of the sport make it clear that any production that isn't deemed up to scratch will jeopardize the contract.....again, they won't give a flying one......
Option 3.
Package the next TV deal up with "in-house" production teams and insist on a partnership with a FTA channel.
Choose one of the three above, but realise that we made our own bed when we scrambled to take the cash.......we can't blame SKY for not caring

But not on other channels like there are for soccer and cricket. Not on their vans, not on their display stands in shopping centres.
