And regardless, I'm not sure what Hohaia was expecting to happen by attacking a 17 stone prop from behind and trying to cheap shot him with a forearm smash to the jaw. Absolutely no sympathy, he fully deserved to be knocked out. Again, if the roles were reversed and Hohaia was the bigger man then he would have knocked Flower out cold and probably broken his jaw. Obviously Hohaia didn't deserve to be punched on the ground, but the intent was there from both men, both should have been sent off and Flower shouldn't be singled out just because he's the bigger and stronger of the two.

On that basis Flower deserved to be knocked out by Hohaia's elbow.

Flower was shoving him out of the way, it was a collision while chasing a kick, the sort of thing that happens all the time and wouldn't even result in a second look normally. You're painting Flower as the bad guy because of what happened afterwards, the initial incident was just part of the game, Hohaia chasing after Flower to smash him in the jaw definitely wasn't.

Hohaia didnt smash him in the jaw, your painting that far worse than it was. It looked far far worse in slow-mo but in real time Hohaia simply barged in to him and his arm bounced up and did hit him but MciLorum hits a kicker late with a similar impact 3 times a week. Flower barely moved backwards, a full on forearm smash to the face by a pro athlete and i dont care if you are Lennox Lewis, you dont take it that easy.

If Flower doesnt swing, and that was the end of the matter, nobody would be on here arguing Hohaia should have gone, its forgotten.

When was the last time anyone from any sport had charges pressed against them for something that happened on a pitch? I think Cantona only got 2 weeks for kicking and repeatedly punching a fan in the crowd, Flower's attack is nowhere near comparable.
