The government has literally cited Wigan for breach of minimum wage legislation.

| Major firms and organisations should be named and shamed for breaching minimum wage legislation.
That way, consumers can vote with their wallets and decide to not add to the profits of unscrupulous employers.
This, by the way, does not make me a 'lefty' (as I've been accused of being on here, bizarrely). It makes capitalism work more fairly and efficiently.

That's exactly what happened (months ago) with a list of employers who paid less than minimum wage.
Clearly Wigan entered the wrong hourly rate or number of hours in the system (bit like my employer forgetting to enter my overtime) for that one employee and sorted it as soon as they could. Absolute b@stards.

True, mistakes do happen. But I don't think this isn't the first "admin error" which implies that there is a lack of financial control systems in place which means that this department at least is not particularly well ran.

| Could the Wigan one and indeed others have being when someone has a birthday and jumps into the next minimum wage bracket and the rate was not changed? Yes a mistake but one that should never happen whether you have 1 employee or tens of thousands, you should have a system that is geared to ensure that those in your employ are being paid the correct amount and that basic checks are in place whether that be computerised or paper based.
Still, this just shows that many companies, not just the ones paying less, are not paying living wages though the minimum wage has gone up by 41% over the last 8 years. Scandalous however that just because someone is of a certain age they can be paid significantly less, just think if you are 71 and you are told your minimum wage is lower than someone who is 65, and when you get older the less money a company can pay you.

I’d agree normally but had that been Trinity would people be saying that? No we’d have a sanctimonious thread fifty pages long by now.
Also it’s Wigan, no club seems to have more ‘admin’ errors than Wigan, so maybe we shouldn’t just move on. Wigan as there fans and the media love to tell us are a giant of the game, with that comes a certain responsibility. Compared to some SL clubs that are run by the seat of their pants surely a wealthy club like Wigan should suffer the least ‘admin’ errors not the most.
Just a thought.

So what do you suggest?
