| Spare everyone the faux outrage about how the sacking was done. It was long overdue.

Maybe, but it was still crappy behaviour from a Leeds United director.

| For all I didn't rate him (what do you expect from a HKR fan), he did guide the club to two challenge cup victories and had them in the top 6 for a lot of his tenure. However, is his record good enough for him to get a gig elsewhere?
I wonder if he fancies living in Ottawa?

You may be right but, isn't Radford FC's most successful coach in the SL era ?
I agree that most people would think that Hull should be doing better and regularly finishing in the top 4.
However, there are some good sides in the comp and nobody is going to move aside without a fight.
There are 8/9 sides with genuine top 4 aspirations and although FC's results do blow hot and cold they are certainly capable of winning trophies.
It wii be interesting to see how Wire's season goes, a club who have stuck with their coach, compared to Hull, who have swung the axe.
I'll gamble that Wire finish further up the table than Hull.

The way people are talking you'd think he's been sacked after a couple of bad games....
He's is Hulls second longest serving coach I think. He kept his job after a club record losing run, club record defeats. I think Pearson has been quite restrained in all honesty.

Wasn't it 2 years ago after we beat you that pearson came out and complained about the squad, and how he was going to invest majorly in it?
I'd say he's had a 2 year stay of execution.

| Radford's been a dead man walking for a while now. A change will benefit him and Hull. My guess is his next club won't be a top side, more likely replace someone overseas or take over at an ambitious Championship side with some kind of budget to work with.

Im not sure he has the skills for that level. He's failed with good players and high spending.

| It has confused me for about 15 years that a club with the potential of Hull hasn't found a world class coach to properly cement them as potential champions. For me they are the only club in our country that could remotely aspire to 30k gates (not every week). Radford is a grafter and probably a great bloke, but him being head coach at Hull always baffled me.

| For those saying a new coach should have been in place for the pre-season, any new coach will effectively be having a mini pre-season with the impending postponing of the season. Will give time to get players up to speed with new ideas

It's pretty frustrating.
Kear 2005/06, promoted from an assistant - won the cup
Peter Sharp, assistant NRL coach, 2006-2008. great 06-07, awful start to 2008
Agar, promoted assistant, 2008-2011, awful
Gentle, NRL assistant, 2012-2013, underwhelming despite a cup final
Radford, promoted assistant, 2014 - unforgettable cup wins, but a lot of frustrating underachievement
Each one of those has been a gamble. For a change I'd like us to go and recruit that proven world class coach, but I fear that Last/Purtill will string a run of games together and one gets the role fulltime - that seems to be the Hull way.

You could do with Tony Smith from your beloved neighbours.
He' turned both Leeds and Wire into winning sides and he could do the same with FC.
Of all the current SL coaches, he would be as good as it gets. Maybe even Shaun Wane, to run alongside his international responsibilities.
With FC having such a strong physical side, he would have you playing hard and winning silverware.
Outside that, you may end up with a current Aussie assistant but, if they are successful, invariably, they tend to look for a head coach position back home.

If we're to bring in someone external, the likelihood is it'll be an NRL assistant I think, but it's still a bit of a gamble. As someone on the Hull forum barked at me, "what about McGuire, Robinson or Holbrook", yeh, true, but for each one of them there's at least one David Furner.
The next coach is critical for the club. There's been some heavy investment into the playing squad this year and we need the right man to capitalise on it.

If Leeds by far and away the best-supported team in SL can't manage 30k I see no possible chance that HUll could, possibly one of the most OTT comments I've ever seen on here and that's saying something! I get your point in that they are definitely one of the most viable teams in SL but 30k! Other than against an on-form HKR or at a pinch playoff game against say, Leeds, not a chance IMO.
