In his situation there would have been 3 possible outcomes
1. Suspend him without pay show the club is very hostile to his actions but potentially unfair pending the enquiries
2/ let him play suggest the club do not wish to pass judgements on his actions the wire approach.
3/ stand him down pending the enquiries . Shows the club is not making a judgement but are concerned enough about his actions to take action.
In my view only 1 or 3 would have been acceptable.

No public sector employer would suspend someone without pay. That’s a disciplinary measure which would be saying the club have found him guilty. His solicitor would knock that down in seconds and quite rightly too.
If he’s done what’s been rumoured he’s a massive pillock and deserves punishment. But at the moment he’s innocent until proven guilty.
I don’t have any problem with Wire playing him until it’s decided either way by the judicial system.
It’s also a slippery slope to go down, is there a club without a player in their ranks who has been involved in some kind of violent incident off the pitch? I’d imagine most clubs do.
