Having a high reputation and huge respect from the Newcastle masses is not the same as having it from non partisan English fans who apart from a few shudds fans who naively believe that if on the off chance he came back here he would go back to them I think you will be hard pressed no matter how much tub thumping you do to drum up the interest you obviously crave for regarding Nathan Brown.
Without trying to get you excited regarding NRL full backs  , I amazed if not astonished that you feel their/there/they're are only four(4) super full backs in the NRL. |

Nathan Brown is indeed a fantastic coach but surely he's a massive risk too? Remember all the 'will he won't he' last time he was here on whether he'd up & leave mid season to go back under?

“Browny’s still here, and while he’s been here he’s been good to me, he’s respected me, and he’s made me the player I am right now,” Ponga said.
Also worth noting that when asked about Brown leaving Newcastle this is what Ponga had to say “I was having a nice Strawberry thickshake when I heard so I wasn’t too sad”. Just screams respect.

No I'm not - Brown started it at Shudds, Maguire took it to extremes at Wigan, and every team followed suit; we've never recovered. |

It was Brown who introduced the tactic of slowing things down in the tackle and PTB before Maquire hit these shores. To a certain extent he also introduced the kicking game, the giants didn't have a team with a lot of good passing skills so he got Danny Brough to kick high and see what came off. |

The RFL purposefully allowed a more ruck dominant game, taken to high levels by the likes of Brown, Maguire etc after England’s disappointing shown the the 08 RLWC. We went over with players used to the speed and scoot dominant play of SL only to nullified by the refereeing interpretations and ruck dominant NRL players. Ironically, since then the NRL have cleaned up that area massively where as the RFL allowed our games to regress. |
