Shame because somewhere near there would be a good location especially if a Toulouse championship match was added to the programme'"
Toulouse is a great city & easy to get to. The football & RU grounds hold >30,000 & 20,000.

I have been a fan of this idea since the first Magic weekend. The main reason is I don’t like the uneven number league of fixtures. The big problem I see is that magic WE is a sky driven idea & they don’t have full coverage of the cup? Look how much effort they put into it now, practically zero. If we had a super league of 14 teams we could get rid of uneven fixture lists & the two game Easter programme.

Perhaps because the vast majority of RL fans don’t have that kind of cash and could well do without your snide comments.
Has it ever crossed your mind and that of a few other is that the local nature of RL is part of its appeal.

Given that about 4000 Wigan fans made the trip and about 8000 Catalans fans, means there must have been close to 20000 barceloni and barceloninas in attendance. That is 20000 people who have never watched the game but due to the marketing in Spain attended the game. Even if people from here can’t afford to go and I will probably be one of them as I have a family holiday to Florida and a road trip across the states later in the year planned, shouldn’t we just take a year out from having it in the UK to build some momentum in the sports mad country of Spain?
All Spanish secondary schools have to have a fifa qualified coach or a coach undertaking the fifa coaching badge. In a few years their schools may have to have an RFL accredited coach too if the game takes off and in generations to come, we will see the benefit of that.

That’s fine for those who can afford it but for those who can’t youve instantly made it exclusive. You’re absolutely barmy if you think there is an appetite for RL in Spain. If there isn’t one in London, Cardiff or Newcastle why Barcelona. One off games mean nothing.

| There is something more than the cost of travelling to this equation & it's being overlooked. I am not against Catalan & other overseas clubs. Catalan do not bring supporters in numbers here in UK to league matches, so revenues are well down to other SL. Clubs, this is a matter of fact. Therefore they bring little to the game in the uk.
Even when they went to Wembley the RL said they lost money massively due to Wembley not being a sell out !
When SL. Clubs went to Aus. Most Hull supporters took out loans to get there which would take years to pay off, thus they probably couldn't go again for a while !
Toronto also do not bring supporters here, so when they hit SL. Same equation. Therefore eventually when two more North American & Toulouse hit SL. Same equation's. Added to all this, where are all the p!ayers, 30 on avrg per new club, to come from ?
There is truly a lot more to be thought out yet !

Is it wrong that the home team should generate support and fill their own ground? How many Melbourne fans do you think go to Sydney every second week, or Brisbane to Sydney.....standing still is going backwards.
The game needs re modelling Batley, Swinton etc are yesterdays teams, having Wigan, Warrington, Sts, Widnes within 10 miles isn't good for sponsorship...the world is changing.
Have you noticed how the richest shop owner doesn't own a shop (Amazon) the biggest taxi company doesn't own a taxi (Uber)... yes its all very new

There is also the logistic factor that makes it exclusive, you will probably not get 30 000 club supporters over there, you would need scheduled 120 flights at the moment you would be lucky to get 40 flights from the North of England.
Charted flights would be expensive to make up the shortfall.

| In answer to wire - quin, you have missed a very important point in your analogy ! Yes, shops have closed, the location of the shops has changed, analogy - number of SL & RL clubs close, change, but here is the point punters have not changed to amazon ! They sell to all, rich or poor, there are far more poor people by numbers that make their wealth than rich people ! The problem for the RL as a whole is Amazon can take the same product/s to the direct to the punter so location/s not a cost problem ! RL's product as a whole is stadium based & the future of various countries means punters rich or poor have to travel/visit the product. Therefore the analogy is not the same, it is distorted & not correct !
As I point out, there has to be more thought to whole situation !

Nah. There are plenty of places you can fly to. The logistics wouldnt be a problem at all. In fact, I would go out on a limb and say it would be cheaper to book a package holiday to Salou for a week and then take the train up than it would be for a weekend in Barcelona

Are you being serious ?
Flights to Barcelona, especially if you fly to Girona are cheap as chips.
However, there is a world of difference between a few lads going off for a weekend on the lash and trying to move several thousand folk form A to B on the same day.
Just look at the difficulty that the Liverpool and Spurs fans have had, both in terms of getting flights /travel sorted AND the huge price hikes that they have experienced "because there is a major event".
In order to stage an event like "Magic" anywhere, there has to be multiple ways of getting there and reasonably priced accommodation AND stuff for fans to do, in order to allow them to "dip in and out" of the games.
Just for the record, flights and accommodation in Girona for 4 nights will set you back around £300 plus food & beer tokens

| Well put wrencat, I love your level head on points, previous poster is looking at a myopic point & point of view. Still doesn't recognize Catalan mass support does not visit this country but expect all our fans to go there ! When will
our fans understand our clubs need reciprocal support for allowing them into the Super League. It is to the credit of our UK supporters via each club make a short break to their place in high numbers, they do not !

If you're relying on the money from away supporters to be successful in SL, then you really are screwed.
Catalans away support face a trip abroad every other week, English clubs have to go to Perpignan once a year... of course we take more to France than they bring here every fortnight.

Catalan's away support is far better than Widnes away support when they were in SL.
