I think the OP has said St Helens Academy Lads.

Not said he didn’t, I’m just tracing those lads back to their actual roots. It’s a testament to the amateur game in those areas as well as the Saints academy.

The point being that if the current supporters don't get being things celebrating the game, how can we expect new people to be encouraged to get involved.
Every thread on every site has a bunch of people moaning about their team not being represented or being on someone who did.

Every team sport has teams of the year and they always provoke the same sort of response of so and so should/shouldn’t be in.

That doesn’t stop them attracting new supporters and sure isn’t the reason why we do. I’d actually say they get a lot more arguments/disagreements/criticism when you see the Premiership do their team of the year and arguments between Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd, Spurs fans

Even the most ardent Warrington fan must see that St Helens are clear favourites. ATEOD it’s a two horse race and anything can happen.

Doesnt matter who are favourites, its what happens on the day. That said, the inclusion of 7 St Helens players in the dream team and zero warrington players means we are a class or 3 above them

The sport's troubles wouldn't go away but, it would be far better to have some discussion on the players merits, rather than the petty dick measuring that we seem to have on most threads.
I guess thats social media/ internet forums for you, quite depressing.

Without reading the whole thread, I can guess that the main thrust will be where the players *actually* come from, rather than what team they currently play for; Ray French levels of amateur club citations ensue - which is as boring when it's done on here as when he does it during live match commentary.

Anyhow - it was obvious that it would be Saints heavy, given their performances this year; great to see WT representing Yorkshire though with 3 inclusions, all of which are very difficult to argue with. Ashurst is most pleasing for me as a WT fan, because he's an absolute rock for us - one of the best signings we've made in a good while.

It would be nice to know why the players have merited selection, for instance a a couple of killer stats like in a top trumps sense - it may help with casual observers of the game.

I dont think dream team representatives will make a scrap of difference when they play the game and it could give the Wire players a little more motivation.
Having said that, it's difficult to see past a Saints victory in the semi but, the final will be a different proposition, against either Cas or Wigan.
