Quote: Fully "Not necessarily given Championship sides already receive central funding totalling something like £1.5m between them and Leigh got a parachute payment of £500k. That leaves only a shortfall of £1.6m.
Also the Sky deal when announced said that £146m would go to Super League clubs over the 5 years with them getting £1.825m each. So this begs the question of where the £37m or so difference is going and to where? Competition prizes and finishing position bonuses of £7m per season?
Could we just not lower the prizes across the sliding scale to fund the difference? Should clubs finishing outside the top 4 really get prizes/finishing money? Do Widnes deserve anything this season for their contribution to SL?'"

SL £146,760,000 - 80%
Champ £14,576,000 - 8%
C1 £1,822,000 - 1%
CC/Internationals £20,042,000 - 11%
+ an additional £17,800,000 during the course of the contract paid for coaching and the clubs’ charitable foundations

Not necessarily they could request that Toronto, Toulouse negotiate there own TV contract deals and sponsorship
London would be entitled to funding

Yes, but as I've pointed £1.825m * 12 Super League clubs x 5 years = £109.5m, meaning a £37.26m gap from the £146m you've mentioned above.
That's £7.452m per season, which I assume is given in prize money for the LLS (£100,000) and Grand Final winners, along with prizes for final finishing positions. Still, I can't see how that would swallow up on average £621,000 per club per season.
Unless, as someone has pointed out, the RFL are taking a cut for the SL marketing and media (circa £4.5m per season)

PS The SL clubs all chipped in from their £1.85m to fund Leigh's parachute payment.'"
Or Catalans *if they had lost the MPG* & it was Catalans they were most worried about !

If we could have someone with a vision that can illustrate the merits of increasing the broadcasting rights to get the better quality of players across here and give the game a facelift marketing wise, there’s every possibility we can.
However, we need someone with a vision and expertise to do that.

|
| It’s more like sky’s monopoly on sporting events is dying BT have the better football games now sky are showing more championship games now they’ve lost the La Liga games after 20 years to the owner of Leeds Utds company no champions league the way we watch things now has totally changed everyone thinks if sky don’t want us nobody will when in effect sky pay peanuts for RL rights

| Well the rumour is that the clubs have rejected the proposal and I think the reason is likely to be the answer to a question that doesn't seem to have been asked - If the end of season Super 8's competitions are being removed, what is coming in to replace them with regards to P&R as it relates to Super League.
It's all well and good to increase the number of clubs in the Championship, but if that leads to a dead end with no chance of getting to the top table then what's really in it for Championship and League 1 clubs to accept the changes?
