I'd have given a penalty for taking the kicker out. Possibly a yellow. It was an offense. But not dangerous he put hands in the face not fists or an arm.

Leading with the forearm has always been a penalty. It's dangerous contact. What are you talking about?

His head was at a natural tackling height. Walmsley moves his elbow towards the Salford player's head. Not the other way around. The ball carrier has just as much a duty of care as the tackler. If the tackler led with his forearm/elbow to the head would that be okay too?

The RFL said Watts was guilty and gave him SOS, so based on that Walmsley should get a one match ban.

The RFL should have admitted the Watts sending off was wrong, which they bottled doing.

Arm coming up in contact as you drive through the tackle is a completely different thing. The ball is carried like that dozens of times in a game but can go that way depending on the position and control or lack of from the tackler

People are missing the point with the Watts incident. The RFL verdict was of sending off sufficient, ie. a degree of guilt on the part of the player. This of course was ridiculous and looked like a fudge to prevent the officials looking like idiots. However they made a huge rod for their own backs and we have seen the first incident tonight that has come back to bite them. Walmsley did the same as Watts arguably worse, and no sending off - which as i've just explained is what the RFL thought Watts deserved.

He didnt really lead with the forearm though, he used his arm as a bumper which happens 100s of times in a game, its on the border but he will probably just be cautioned.

Lannon though was clearly leading with the forearm and was late so definite red for me

Just thinking as I'm watching the second half. With warmsley being amongst the tallest players in the league, should there be a little more onus on him to be careful with his running style/arm positioning with ppl trying to effect proper tackle technique? Much like there was unofficially a lot more onus on people to tackle rob burrow properly.

God knows how many bans have been handed out for "high" tackles/grabs on him, as he's ducked under tacklers arms.

Child is an absolute disgrace to his "profession" (slight misnomer there!). What Walmsley did was 5 times worse than Watts yet he shoite his pants and put it on report. Lannon was stupid (but didn't think it was more than a yellow tbh) but it was blatant retaliation because that **** shafted us in the first place. I'm sick to death of getting ****** by Child. I'd have walked out at half time if it wasn't for wanting to support my team as it's the same every week. He's an utter joke. If that gets me a ban on here then so be it but with all due respect I really don't care anymore. Just sick of the standard of refereeing and the double standards across Super League when it comes to playing the so-called bigger clubs.

I wonder if there is a breakdown of how many decisions each referee has had overturned by the VR. Seems to me that Child gets and awful lot overturned, which hardly breeds confidence when he's reffing a non-televised game.
