| complete novices? are the players on the pitch complete novices though? no, they are all very experienced, pretty good rugby league players who have been put together by someone who has a lot of money to pay them, it's the quality of the players they have for the league they are in which seems unfair not the people running the club.

No, what we have is teams that have had 100+ years to get their act together being shown up and humiliated by an organization that has existed for less than a year. Doncaster is not a small place, they have a great stadium, plenty of 'tradition' for the people that like that yet they were utterly destroyed by complete novices. Who does the blame fall on for that, because IMO it's certainly not Toronto or the RFL.'"
Novices ?

No reason whatsoever
It is a difficult situation , do we shove every person wanting a SL place in there , or do we make the ' prove themselves ' 1 st
Unlike any other sport we are desperate to expand , this makes us do things that carry risk , the current risk is that we mess up the lower tiers for a couple of years
The opposite risk is we risk damaging 1 current SL club by dropping them for a potential expansion project , and upsetting 2 nd tier clubs
There is no easy answer , there is no scenario where we don't damage part of the sport

At a guess it's probably due to the fact they don't seem to have a shed load of money to throw at those players to get them to drop down to League 1 level.

They have had 66 years. Toronto have had less than one. Why could they achieve so easily in one year what Doncaster have been unable to do in 66?

What on earth are Toronto proving right now? What did Toulouse prove last year? What did Leigh prove in the years before?
The only thing any of those three clubs have proved conclusively is that if you spend big money and play against part-timers, you will win at a canter. How many times do we need to learn that?

| Some clubs don't want Sooper Dooper League. Hunslet & Dewsbury won 'league one/play off final' (as it was back then), and doubt Batley want it either.

| Quote: Charlie Sheen "If they'd have been put straight into SL or the championship everyone would be complaining about them not earning the right to be there (despite them having everything in place to be an SL club). They were put into league 1 to appease the flat cap brigade, and now they're giving every team in the division a good towelling, those same people whinging even more.'"
Take a bow, Sir! What an exercise in futility it is though. The scorelines will likely be higher when Toronto play at home, and could conceivably hit 3 figures. There could be a few thousand fans there who won't actually get to see a proper game of rugby, just an annihilation - will they return?

You could argue that they have achieved in 1 year what it took Leeds,Wigan,Saints,Giants and all the rest a hundred years to achieve
Daft argument
Happy for you to provide a sensible answer to accomadate the whole sport ?

| Quote: GUBRATS "You could argue that they have achieved in 1 year what it took Leeds,Wigan,Saints,Giants and all the rest a hundred years to achieve '" Not really, I doubt Toronto could claim to be on the same level as those clubs yet, although they would probably be able to outspend some SL clubs who still don't spend the full cap. But that's not the point, the point is that in less than one year they have clearly been able to surpass to a ludicrous extent clubs with 60+ years history. And you can't blame Toronto or the RFL for that.
Quote: GUBRATS "Happy for you to provide a sensible answer to accomadate the whole sport ?'" The best answer is one where the strongest clubs are in the highest division. Which is what we had, but people didn't like it. So now we have a system where meek part time clubs are being toweled and nobody can complain about it IMO because this is what they wanted.

| a lot of finger pointing at the RFL and Toronto
most people expected blow out scores, it wasnt going to be difficult to see that! but they are abiding by the rules of the game, starting from the bottom and spending what they are allowed too, sanctioned and pushed by other clubs chairman irrc
just a side point, why isnt anybody questioning keighley then? gave the wolfpack a game the other week yet went 2 points better than them on the pitch this weekend beating hemel 6-84!
