He has got to have been pushed, suspended then before anything else is said he 'retired'.

It seems were slowly getting rid of the full timers. As most SL refs are not actually full time .

Plenty of people available to to replace him. Loads on here , especially when their team lose.
Strange that so few of these " experts" never want to show their prowess.

If I go on a bus journey (not that I would) that I don't enjoy - do I have to volunteer to drive the bus myself before I can criticise the driver's performance?

If when I fly next week, my Virgin pilot puts us down a bit heavily, must I take the plane for a spin myself to see if I can do better?

To help you - the answer is no in all three scenarios; just as it's perfectly ok to criticise the performance of a match official without having to train, qualify and carry out the role yourself.

I'm sure he's a decent enough guy, and I quite liked him as a ref, but whatever the run in was, it's not his first.

15 years or so as a high profile referee, he's probably had to put up with his fair share of grief from 'fans' giving him verbals away from matches. I very much doubt (referring to the rumours) that he was an instigator in any incident.

Which ref was it who sometimes went off on one giving penalties every 2 minutes for practically nothing and everyone used to say liked to be the centre of attention? I remember one game,a cup game at odsal bradford v someone where he gave like 30 penalties int eh first half and everyone was going mental.
